So I too am contemplating getting a red dot or scope of some sort, but I have a few questions for the experts... and maybe some picture requests?

First off, this is a new gun to me and it has the standard (non-flipping) sights... I have only taken it out once so far. I plan on using the iron sights for quite a while and getting accustomed to them before I get a red dot or scope - so this is just me getting some early info.

My main question / picture request is to find out if you can have either (rd / scope) mounted on a riser that still gives you full view of the iron sights.... not looking through the optic, but under it through the riser (if that makes sense). Or does that put the optic too high? Look stupid? I don't know.

I want to be shooting in the 50-100 yard range mostly, and am torn if I want red dot or scope.... I will figure that out eventually - but I can kind of leaning more towards scope (especially if I can keep the iron sights on there to use with the scope mounted like my question above).

Thanks all :)

It's all about what you like. I've had a slew of red dots and scopes and have come to the conclusion that I prefer a 1-4x scope. You get the quick aquisition of a red dot(1x)with the presicion of a scope. For your range a red dot might work just fine. I recommend trying both if you can. You can always turn around and sell it on the classifieds and make most of your money back. I do it all the time with gear for my weapons.
