So I've started another project gun
it's even based on a caliber I don't really care for .....9mm
Many years ago I carried a 92 F
but in general I've been a 1911 45 acp guy and a 357 mag wheel gun guy
I still have the 92f and that an an UZI were the only 9mm's in my collection till the topic,of this thread
so
recently I did up a TRR8 with a RMR red dot sight
I wanted a full house battle revolver and could not ignore the popularity of the red dots these days even on carry guns
long they have been the standard on battle rifles
well after some time shooting one I really like it
aging eyes and low light make sights hard with out glasses these days so the merits of the red-dot are many
once in play target acquisition and awareness of your targets surroundings are exceptional
the down falls
main one is dot acquisition
on the drawl aquiring the dot can be tricky
After some time and a lot of draws and dry fire drills muscle memory is starting to come together and I'm 9 out of 10 and most times 10 out of 10
for steel games I'm good and prefer the dot over irons
for carry not yet
the dot is slower on the draw though
I got a .85 on the draw to target with one of my typical iron sited carry revolver where the best I could manage the first time out with the Trr8 was 1.2 with 1.4 more the normal
I'm pleased with my progress with the dot but I was curious about using the dot on a race style semi auto platform
with the big 357 Trr8 there is no co witnessing of the sights
on this project gun the slide is cut and the sights being used are made to co witness perfectly with an RMR
for those into red dots the Trijicon RMR is pretty much the gold standard
so wanted to hear general thoughts on those that shoot dots and your confidence level in them and yourself
I'm hoping to have this next project gun in hand by next week but I picked up the first piece today
this will not be a carry piece but a full house race gun for banging on steel ........for now
