This afternoon we helped our 12YO German Shepherd to The Bridge. :(

Fauna was gifted to us by our neighbor who breeds GSDs for herding and dog sports on the condition she be spayed, which we did.

Fauna was a return from Cop School. Her defect was that she was behind the door when they handed out the aggressive gene. She wouldn't attack anything. :D What made her unsuitable for their purposes made her perfect for ours. She was a gentle, loyal protector.

She had been suffering from arthritis and a skin condition peculiar to GSDs for years and we had been managing with pain meds. Her condition seemed to have gone beyond meds so we made the painful decision to let her go.

Rest in Peace, girl. No more pain.

As the last pic shows, she has reached the finish line after a wonderful run. R.I.P. Fauna :( My heartfelt condolences to you & your family.

Not an easy thing to do. Sorry to hear. :( We have 2 GSD/mutts now, but have lost 2 also. I understand the Bridge is all the rage. I intend meet up with them someday, down the road.

EDIT: Beautiful girl! the 3rd pictures' a hoot! No one can take the memories.

Fauna is such a beautiful friend. Sorry for your loss and you have all my sympathy.

Our sincere condolences to you and your house. A year ago today our Kitty girl Belle suddenly died a 6 years of age. We know the drill only too well. God's peace to you all.

My condolences to you & your family, & God Speed to Fauna. She was a real cutie & by your pictures it is easy to see she was a good friend.

Brother I feel your pain. I lost my black lab when he started losing his self control. My wife nursed him though it all from diabetes to blindness he was a wonderful family member. All three of my adult children showed up at my vets office for the last good bye.

Soon after my 10yo 145lb Rottie passed away in my wife's arms. The night before my daughter fed her a cheeseburger. You could not get away without giving her a cheese burger if you had one. Even with all the pain she was in she still picked up her head and smiled and talked with her eyes. Part of me died with her. She was my best friend, another family member. Again my whole family who grew up with her showed up for the wake and the send off. I loved this dog so much I'd like to be buried with her.

My kooky yellow lab pup has a hard act to follow. I take in dogs and cats that no one wants. I also take in abandon kittens I find in the wilds when fishing. For feeding them and giving them a good home they kill rodents, crows in my corn, moles in my lawn, Chase Turkey's, kill snakes on my mini hobby farm. I tamed feral kittens. Bill

It's tough to say goodbye when the time comes. We will see them again.

So very sorry to learn of this. You have condolences for Texas coming your way.

I'm very sorry for your loss. It is very painful thing to go through, they are such loving animals.

I lost my Siberian Husky mix last September 10th after 16 years of wonderful companionship.

I know how you feel. I believe God has a place in Heaven for them, we'll meet them again at the Bridge someday!

Bob

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your Fauna today. Always a sad day when we lose one of our best friends. There is some comfort in having all the wonder memories of her and knowing that she had a great home with you and twelve wonderful loving years. She will be waiting for you at the bridge.

Respectfully,

Pete

Condolences...

Remember the good times, and try not to miss her too much. Doing right by our pets is pretty hard to do sometimes, but you did right by Fauna.

Fish, my deepest condolences on your loss sir.
The wife and i have lost 2 this year to old age and
heart problems. The vet said they had enlarged
hearts but i knew that when they we're puppies. :):)
Thanks for giving the pup a good home and you
will see each other again one day.

Chuck
