Congrats on your addition. I got lucky and ran across a dash 5 model a few years ago. Most sellers are pretty proud of these guns and should be.

They also made a few 29-4E's with the 10 5/8 inch barrel! I also like the long barrels - even sent one back to the factory for engraving.

I just bought a 29-3 Silhouette . It's going to look nice sitting next to my 686 Silhouette . Any thoughts on what round works with these guns ? I don't reload , yet , so keep that in mind . And how far do you shoot these at ?

These guns were originally designed to knock down the steel critters at 200 meters. Most of your silhouette shooters back in the timeframe that the guns were being made were rolling their own and because of the larger cylinder throats, using fatter bullets. You'll need to find a range that you can stretch out in and experiment with available store bought rounds since you're not reloading. Congrats on your new find.

We have a 100 and 200yd ranges . My range buddy who's a range officer and has been there 30 years , knows we have all the steel we just have to find them . We're lucky , we let ourselves in on Tuesdays and usually have the place to ourselves . My buddy reloads 44mag , so he's bringing some of his and I'll give him all my brass . Any luck on shooting 44spc with these guns ? I have a 624 with a bunch of ammo for it , just wondering if it's even worth trying .
You can probably get on target with .44 Special at 200yds, but it'll need both front and rear sight adjustment. With a 50m zero using .44 Magnum (not a "hot" load) my 200m front sight setting is about bottomed out. The math indicates there's about 1 meter drop from 50 to 200m, based on the relative heights of front sight setting #1 and #4. (Only a little mind warping going from thousandths of an inch to meters....)

My picture above. the one with the red dot mounted, killed a dear at 142yds! My number 4 screw is set for HOT 240 gr XTPs at 200yds.
This is 2 guys, 2 days, and 2 Silhouette 44 mags! AND, too many hours processing venison!

Jcelect , did you have to drill any holes for that mount ? If not , what kind is it . It would be nice to hit something at 150+ yards with a hand gun . With my eyes I need some help !
That mount is an Aimpoint clamp on mount, which has a see thru base, which allows the use for the front sight. I don't know if they are still in business. That is a red dot mounted on the gun for low light woods shots. With my loads and the red dot sighted in for 50yds, I get about 1.5" drop at 100yds. After that it's on to the open sights!
