My youngest son was able to take his first turkey this week on his property in WV.

His text to me stated " If I ever said that I wasn't a turkey hunter I take it it back as that was awesome!!"

Maybe dad will have to make a trip next year to try his hand at turkey hunting:D:D

Congratulations to your Son, that’s a nice bird. I turkey hunted for many years with my son-in-law on land we own, but am unable to do it anymore. Sometimes old age does suck. I really miss that time with him, he is a great friend and wonderful father and husband.

The first time that I saw wild turkeys "flying" across the road, for a moment I wondered if we had been invaded by aliens or it was creatures from some cartoon. I had never seen such ungainly, disjoint motion on any of God's creatures. Many happy turkey hunts to all here.

Let’s see with three different broods with 9 chicks each that’s 27 chicks figure 50% drakes and 50% hens. So let’s say 13 hens will have 9 chicks each. That’s 13 broods I’m up to my azz in wild here. They keep coming back to feed. Cool.

turkey youth was today as far as i heard in SW Pa. today. morning was a really nice start. but about 3 pm the storms come thru. hope the young hunters enjoyed shareing time w/ their family.

Nice Tom, congratulations to your son.

I'm eating tag soup this year. My South Eastern Utah early season limited entry turkey hunt is over.

On the plus side, I have two grandsons that will be hunting the Utah Youth Hunt and General Season that starts Friday. Today I spent one time scouting local turkeys and found a bunch. I'll get them patterned this week. I hope to get the grandsons on them Friday.

I love turkey hinting and enjoy being successful but I love watching the kids get their bird a whole lot more.

Congrats on the nice bird. I bagged a 24lb Tom last Thursday. We also enjoy the Sport here big time. My daughter hunts next week...best week all year long, being able to call for her again like always.

Masterbuck tell your son to look for morel mushrooms while he is out hunting. Nothing better fried up in butter. It looks like a poplar tree behind him that’s a good place to start. If he isn’t looking for them he should. I attached some pics of them. They are easily recognized from other mushrooms.
