Another victory model date question

Could someone help me date this victory revolver for me? Serial number is 782896 and there appears to be an "f" and a partial "a" stamped on the butt.

Sure. Serial 782896 likely shipped from the factory in the May-June 1941 time frame.

By the way, it’s about a year too early to be a Victory. It’s a pre- Victory British Service model. The finish appears original, but the smooth walnut stocks were not introduced until the start of 1942, so these are replacements.

I think what you see as an F is the P proof which all guns of that vintage got there. The strike was a bit off. I’m not sure whether the other “mark” is actually one or just a weird ding.

PS: On closer inspection, the post-war British commercial proofs on the barrel and some corrosive spots appear to clearly be underneath the finish, so the gun has in fact been re-blued at some point.

I agree it's definitely been refinished but I am pretty sure that was done a long time ago. There is a lot of wear to the refinish.

Which would be the correct grips for this? I was planning on replacing them. The current grips have been sanded and don't fit correctly.
