My Weds. morning chores went well, got finished 2 hrs ahead of plan, 10am. Soooo... we had an early lunch & loaded up for a few hrs shooting intermixed w/farm chores... We found a new calf.....kinda late for that.........moved some bigger heifers into the pasture w/new bull. Unloaded shooting trinkets from the truck to the home made shooting table. Shootin' 'arns included AR 15 w/four position stock, recently acquired 6" SS Python, S&W 6" SS M-686, Rossi copy of Wins M-62, .22 pump action cutie. Std. mil. spec. 5.56, Federal .22 hollow points, .38 semi wad cutter reloads......bargain purchase many yrs ago, $5.00 box, 5 for $20.00. No machine guns at this event, will have several of them on line at an organized event next Sat (31)....

Targets are strictly casual, 1gal paint cans, spray paint cans, golf balls & 4x6 soft shale rocks........range about 100', targets are on the far side of a deep ravine, would have to have a range finder to get more accurate figure. I have to take 40' of fence down rather than try to shoot through it.........has more than a few patches as is!!! Intend to hang two long gates there........some day.......

Sad part, Donna lost most of the vision in her right eye from a blood pressure incident 4-5 yrs ago, affected the left, just not nearly so severely......this is making a life long righty switch to lefty...... Not much of an inconvenience when spraying w/belt fed, but a real nuisance hunting or serious plinking. After several attempts to get left eye on sites holding right handed, she capitulated & switched to left hand position (been trying this off & on for some time now). Still awkward........ Loaded & gave her the Python, after 3-4 rnds, she handed it back, dont like this. So I tried the S&W, same result. She did hit a shaving cream can at about 20 ft. Shot 200 or so .22s between the two of us, I wasnt so good with that any more than she was. Got the AR out....now, things picked up considerably. Pushed the stock in one click for her, she left handed it rather easily & proceeded to make several spray paint cans fly in the first 15rnds. She was more than pleased with that, I shot a few next, even hit some golf balls, which I couldnt do w/.22. When hit low, golf balls will sometimes go 50 strait up!!! One doesnt call his shots on a golf ball..........emptied the one box of 5.56, 40 rnds. She shot some more .22 & I went to the revolvers. Most of her shots were close misses, she hit more than a few, but her misses were sometime 4' off......cant catch a deer that way!!! With the revolvers, I wasnt able to directly hit any of the spray paint cans, made more than a few fly sideways or up the bank, but I was dead on a one gallon can, riddling it.....it didnt move unless I hit the rim, thought most of my shots were misses until I went to reset the targets.

We played about 2hrs, she wanted to pick pumpkins then brush hog the garden remains while I cleaned up the shooting gear & put the fence back up. Headed home about 5:20........

We shoot at an organized machine gun event, will probably shoot 4-5000 rnds there.....7.62 & 8mm, some .45 & 9mm....all spray & pray!!!!!

What a refreshingly honest headline for this thread. I read your post and was entertained all the way thru it. All I can say for "Spray and Pray" is, "As long as you have lead in the air, there is hope and a prayer." ..... :-)

I like it when normal people get out and enjoy shooting! ...........
