David THE Sloth? Who cares?

I was done with him when he left Van Halen because he thought HE was the real talent in the band. The flop that was his solo career vs. the band's continued success with Sammy showed the fallacy of his conceit, and served him right.

Hagar is far more talented than Sloth ever thought about being. I was disappointed when Sammy left and Sloth came back. His return doesn't seem to have really done anything to raise the stature of the band.

They would have been better off if Sammy had stayed and the Sloth had continued languishing in obscurity.

When I saw them in 1978, opening for Black Sabbath, I had never heard of them before. I was totally blown away! I was a fan immediately!

I saw them eight years later, with Sammy. I had been a fan of Montrose ever since I heard "Bad Motor Scooter", and I thought he was the perfect fit.

I think the current over-zealotry will likely burn itself back down to a level where mostly serious discussions can be conducted.

Meanwhile, responding to stunts like "Lady A." with ridicule, as David Lee Roth appears to have attempted, over the heads of some, seems the most appropriate response.

Seeing portents of doom for civilization seems a bit over the top.
