Don't feel bad my son is known as the old man where he works. If he's the old man what am I?

I have a friend who calls me The Ancient One. It started when she told me one day she was tired of getting old. She was 27. I was 46. I asked her if she was old, what am I? Ancient?

By the way, my handle at the biker runs is Uncle Phil. None of my siblings ever had kids. It could have been worse. We had one guy we called Old Buttitch.:D

My youngest son has been calling me Pops since I turned 60. At least he still talks to me.

Ivan

My two adult sons (both in their early 50s) call and say a few nasties to me. To be honest about it I enjoy the fact that they are comfortable enough with me to do that.

My father was born in the early 1900s and definitely old school Italian. I would not have dared to talk with him the way my kids do to me. Not that he would hit or chew me out, but he would have considered it disrespect.

To bring things into perspective "the old man'' in the navy normally is the captain of the vessel and its not considered a slur!

All the way back to Uncle Sam

I was 21 years old when drafted into the US Army in 1966. Even in basic at Ft. Dix and AIT at Ft. Sill my fellow draftees and even some of the lifers were younger than I, hence the moniker "Pops".

I never understood it but it seemed to stick, throughout my young military career so now at age 80, 1 wife, 9 kids, 13 grandkids I simply don't care what they call me....I am just thankful they DO CALL me!:D

I turned 24 during my first week of BCT at Ft. Dix, was married with a child, and also enlisted as an E-4. I was known as "The Old Man".

I never really thought about it. My son calls me Dude or Pops, I think he’s gonna be 44 this year. Oldest daughter I’m Daddy, she’s going on 37. To her boy and girl it’s Pappy Taylor. My step daughter I’m Hey. 24 year old new mother I’m plain old Dad. Baby Nina Jean decided to come 3 months early and is doing great, no more tubes or IVs. I don’t care what she calls me.

I went to a drive thru at Starbucks locally. The wife likes it...so we go. A young man at the ordering sign asked me what I wanted. I told him our selections, then he replied, OK Boss. We drive around the the window. He says, "OK boss " three more times before we get our coffee. I thanked him and gave him the ole skunk eye. Asked the wife "what was that"? She just laughed...

I remember how stunned I was when the checkout gal, maybe a year younger than I was, called me "sir." Suddenly I felt ancient instead of 21.

I get called "Boss" quite often by younger men. I think they mean it as a sign of respect. At least that's how I'm gonna take it. Maybe it just means they think I'm old.
