No. Nutcases go off on their own. But any politician will capitalize on the actions of others. Wasn't it just recently some wonk said "Can't let a good crisis go to waste", or somesuch. Joe

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggght. The Brady Bunch, taking a page from al Queda, has hired anti-gun martyrs to commit mass murder to further the BB's political agenda.

Tin foil a tad tight today?

No, the mainstream media is giving them something they'd rather have than a mountain of Krugerrands, ATTENTION.

You take a malignant narcissist who wants to gain attention by hurting a bunch of people and you lavish him with publicity that would make Britney Spears jealous. What kind of a retard doesn't think that teaches the rest of them an important lesson?

The media is training those freaks to kill in exchange for attention just as surely as a behavioral psychologist trains a crow to peck at a button that dispenses food.

Funny isn't it that the media thinks they have a 1st Amendment right to act as publicity agents for these curs, but you don't have a 2nd Amendment right to defend yourself from them when they do the trick they've been taught?

Very insightful --- I think you're on to something, but I'm not sure how to go about quelling this phenom without raising 1A prior restraint issues, etc. Perhaps requiring proof of competency for "journalists" similarly to the minimal professional standards required of barbers and "cosmetologists" &tc.???

Couldn't agree more. The media influences many and who controls the media? Food for thought.

My theory doesn't require tinfoil... unless that gives you better reception on your TV.

Mine isn't a conspiracy, just good old greed and arrogance. I don't think the media are TRYING to get these pieces of filth to kill people. They just don't CARE, if the alternative is to impede the media's ability to make money by acting as their "agents".

The guys who ran Wall Street into the ground and people in the media are both self-important, greedy pieces of crap. The difference is that Bernie Madoff didn't get rich enticing somebody to commit murder.

great idea.....however, "journalism" continually proves all you need is an opinion that fits the template the lackey running-dog socialists want to promote....

If a gun is used wrongly anywhere in our country, we are going to hear about it! The liberal media loves those stories! I wish they would feature more stories of how legal guns were used to thwart crimes and save lives, but it isn't going to happen. I wish more radio and TV stations that are fair and balanced would feature an opposing view to the constant pounding the antiguners reign down upon us. This lie that 90% of the guns used by the cartel in the Mexican Drug Wars come from the U.S.A. would be a good place to start. I've seen only one program adress this, GLEN BECK, on Fox. He was soundly thrashed by the New York Times because he did.

This is an excellent post. If the press thought both amendments were equally important the right to bear arms would be much more secure. And….An attack on the second should be construed as an attack on the first amendment.

It would be fun to tell some media person pushing gun control that you'd be willing to consider limits on gun ownership if they'd be willing to consider limits on news coverage of mass shootings. "Nomad, imperfect, flawed, sterilize, sterilize..." would pretty much sum up the probable response.

Aluminum foil hats are completely ineffective. If you want a hat that actually works you need real tin foil. But I digress...

cmort and others, I see your point re: media coverage and saw a pundit on Fox News Saturday who actually espoused the idea that the names of killers NOT be made public. That was to minimize their notoriety, of course. Made sense to me...'cept most want to know who perpetrates such horrific acts.

However, any suggestions of restrictions on 1st Amendment issues will be treated with enmity by just about every segment of society. Do tread cautiously if endorsing any kind of media blackout of heinous crimes such as these recently in the news.

Be safe.
