Lever action assault rifles

Now, I can agree there might be situations where you need both a red dot sight and a light on a lever action.

I have an 1100 lumen Surefire Nitrolon and a Vortex RDS on my Marlin 1894 as we've occasionally had black bear problems here, usually at night.

@old 18C: A suppressor on my Taylor & Co. .357 12", and loaded with MBC 180 gr. Pugnose or Hornady XTP @ just under 1100 fps might be a nice combo.

Coincidentally, I shot a Henry this past weekend. Was a 357 tactical model with open sights. Eight plus one rounds and accurate as heck. I was impressed.

About $900. I want one. But not the tactical model.

I'm in pre-school when it comes to German language but there are many ways the rifle could have been 'named' to show what it was intended to do in the hands of the German forces.
That they picked Sturm/StormRifle it must have had the meaning in it they were wanting to imply.

Interesting - Here is a Slovakian 9mm "STRIBOG" - meaning STORM GOD. It is a semi-auto, well made, affordable copy of the Swiss B&T Sub Machine gun our Army recently purchased for close in, & structure clearing combat..
With a laser & red dot - a superior home defense carbine.

Roller delayed PCCs like the MP5, GP SP9, and SA Kuna, are under rated as home defense weapons. A locked bolt 9mm PCC shoots much smoother and with less perceived recoil than a direct blow back operated 9mm PCC.

Folks can argue the benefits of a short barrel 5.56 in home defense in terms of tumbling and being less likely to exit a residence, but without a suppressor an 8" 5.56 is deafening (literally) compared to a 9mm with the same length. Add a suppressor and the 9mm still has a big advantage.

I agree a fairly compact red dot sight can be a great addition to a home defense carbine...but I also prefer being able to co witness the sights. Batteries die, shake awake systems sometimes don't, and manual buttons take time, so a low mounted red dot that allows you to use the irons is a big plus. I don't see a laser adding any value in a home defense situation.

I think "lever action assault rifle" is an oxymoron. I want something that delivers the most fire with the least amount of effort past pulling the trigger and changing magazines. And that price would be ridiculous for any AR I can think of, or even a dedicated purpose overwatch bolt gun.

Have to agree with BB57, while an MP-5 would be nice; mine is a Beretta CX-4 that uses 92 mags.
Easy to get 20-30 round factory and Mec-Gar mags and a low mount red dot and a light.
light [5lb],handy [27"]....... a nice urban [50-75yd] SHTF PDW

That said, I also like my Winchester Trapper in .357 mag. 9, or 10 .38s.......... and wouldn't feel under gunned short of a full blow SHTF event.

Yours would have been my first choice. I chose the blow back 9mm Stribog Because our army purchased blow back, Swiss B&T's - stating "the roller lock was un-necessary". When I got my 9mm Stribog they were about $500. & an excellent budget alternative, that I have been well served with + reliable with Hollow points, & accurate with all 3 sighting options.
I have found MY laser (in LOW light) to be most effective in providing surgical accuracy with my set up. I keep an anti-flash-can on it - unless using outdoors. I am extremely content & PLEASED with IT,
Suppressor ? NO - I hope the neighbors WILL call the Police IF they HEAR shots at my home.
Everyone does things their own way - as best they can.

Not a big fan of lever guns. This is as close to that type of rifle/carbine that I will get. It is in .45 Colt. And no it is not an Assult Rifle.

Subguns are GREAT Home defense (or) offense guns, but still not an assault weapon. The HK 52 (7.62x39) and 53 (556) do qualify, though.

Agreed. Which is why we should be calling semi auto civilian versions of sub machine guns and semi auto civilian versions of assault rifles " home defense weapons" or "personal defense weapons".

Spin things in our favor once. It's easy for anti-gun folks to justify banning "assault rifles", "weapons of war", and "military grade weapons".

It's a lot harder to ban "home defense weapons" or "personal defense weapons". It illustrates they are directly truing to remove the ability to defend yourself or your home.
