Antique Smith & Wesson Revolver Collection, a recent acquisition that includes Civil War, Indian Wars, and Old West Cowboy guns: Smith and Wesson Number 3 American, Russian, Schofield (4 are US marked, 1 Wells Fargo), and more.

I was fortunate to purchase these as a collection, and the previous owner spent many years assembling this group.

Wow, just wow. Although the look on my wifes face if I brought that collection home would also say something.

Beautiful collection and display. Do you have any storied history with any of these?

I had an old buddy that has been gone now for about five years. He was always "gun crazy" as far back as he could remember. Became a renowned local gunsmith and did some fantastic work over the years. We were looking through a magazine that had one of those displays only it was of all the Colts. He recollected when he was a kid back in the pre-war years when the big gun show was held under the railroad viaduct that ran through town. He remembered seeing the big Colt wheel and being in awe of such a display, he said they had native types walking around in full regalia, guys in full western garb everywhere, to say it was a circus would be an understatement. I've never gotten tired of listening to those guys I've known over the years that got to see a different era. He had signed up for the Army, lied about his age and spent his seventienth birthday at the Battle of the Bulge, as did one of my uncles who also lied about his age.

Are you going to letter them?
I will get letters on the better ones, but I don't know how much that adds if there are no specific details. I believe the Schofield's may just letter to an armory rather than to a unit with the Wells Fargo being the exception.

Hi There,

Neat! I would like to examine the first model Americans No: 3's
you have. I am curious about the evolution of certain changes
that occurred during that period.

On another note, you got to love a wife like that!

Cheers!
Webb

Several years ago my wife and I visited the NRA museum in Virginia. They had a similar display of H&R revolvers in a knee-high display case and my wife and I were admiring the various guns. Meanwhile, an alarm kept going off in the museum and, each time, the concierge would come in from the lobby and reset the alarm. After the third or fourth time I jokingly said to him, "That's kind of annoying, eh?" The concierge replied, "Yeah. I wish your wife would stop leaning on that case."
