I had an old buddy that has been gone now for about five years. He was always "gun crazy" as far back as he could remember. Became a renowned local gunsmith and did some fantastic work over the years. We were looking through a magazine that had one of those displays only it was of all the Colts. He recollected when he was a kid back in the pre-war years when the big gun show was held under the railroad viaduct that ran through town. He remembered seeing the big Colt wheel and being in awe of such a display, he said they had native types walking around in full regalia, guys in full western garb everywhere, to say it was a circus would be an understatement. I've never gotten tired of listening to those guys I've known over the years that got to see a different era. He had signed up for the Army, lied about his age and spent his seventienth birthday at the Battle of the Bulge, as did one of my uncles who also lied about his age.
