After 50 years of reloading all of the popular handgun cartridges I’ve decided to reload 10mm for a Glock . I have about 2k pieces of range pick up 10mm brass from all the different manufacturers. Both large and small primer pockets.
Which brands should I avoid ?
Thanks in advance.

What headstamps are using small pistol primers? I've been loading 10mm for about 15 years and never even knew there was a small primer case for them. Now, .40S&W uses a small pistol primer, sure you don't have some of them mixed in? Only 0.142" difference in length between .40S&W and 10mm Auto cases.

All I've ever used for my 10mm loads is Federal Premium brass, I got a big bag of once-fired many years ago, over 1000 cases and still using them. Some are on their 4th reload (of mine).

Whatever brass you use, start low on the pressure. I loaded a long time for a 2nd Gen G20, which has a non-fully supported chamber and full power loads would bulge the case in the ramp area. I finally sold the gun after owning it for 24 years and bought a Ruger SR1911 in 10mm. I don't miss the Glock.

I have not experienced small primer pocket brass for the 10mm. A Colt 1911 Delta Elite was my fist 10mm and runs great. My second one is a Mod 610, 3.75" barrel. Both are extremely accurate with 180 grain bullets. The 610 loves the Hornady XTP.

I loaded a ton of 10mm in the past and they all used the large pistol primers, never the small, don't know if anything has changed since then. I don't recall having any issues with any of the brass I used.

I have not had issues with any brass other than the PITA occasional small primer stuff.
Plinking loads are 170 gr coated LSWC over A #5 and practice loads are 200 gr coated LSWC over a heavy A #9 charge.
FWIW the gun has a fully supported chamber.

Federal and CCI are now the same company which is why they both have the SPP pocket. I would just be certain to keep the LPP and SPP primer pocket cases separate. If you have about 2000 that shouldn't be a problem. I haven't seen any 10mm brass in the brands that I avoid in other calibers, so there aren't any I would avoid.

The original Norma 10mm load consisted of a 200gr. bullet @1200 fps. I load with enough Accurate #9 and 200gr XTP’s or FMJ’s to duplicate that original load. Starline Brass only.

I have a .30 cal ammo can full of empty 10 MM brass. All has large primer pockets. I do have a quart plastic canister with small primer 10 MM brass that is set aside for future use. I have not had any problems using mix manufacturer brass.

I use the 10 MM in a Ruger SR 1911 and a S&W 610.

The local indoor firing range sells range brass (duh) & S&B has seemed to make up the majority of it.

I've not had any issues loading S&B 10AUTO brass. In fact in firing it in unsupported chambers my tests seem to indicate it is slightly less likely to bulge when leaned on, but only slightly. I keep them separated for that reason.

I have found some odd brands gave inconsistencies when trying to handload mixed brands at the same time (brass thickness for one). The really off brands that I have few of go in a big jug for use in desperate times.

For this reason, among others, I've highly resisted loading mixed brands in one batch & only load all of one brands brass before switching to another at one sitting.

Sometimes my 10mm brass gets leaned on :p

I have came upon some of that Blazer SP brass and have segregated it out to be used for 9x25 Dillon.

Since I have a (more than?) adequate:rolleyes: supply of SPPs (and a somewhat lesser supply of LPPs) I regularly load both 10mm & 45acp small primer brass.

I have found no real performance difference between LP &SP brass, but I do segregate my brass by manufacturer when reloading: minor differences in the brass can usually be easily identified immediately and normally requires very minor adjustments.

Cheers!

Kind'a wish Starline would come out with SP brass for both 10mm & 45acp: I consider it the best brass and try to use it for more serious loads.
