Any arguments for the 19-3

19-3 is sweet as is 27-2,tough one there are they both blue?

I love my model 19 but if I was going to shoot a lot of heavy loads I'd go for the 27th. Having said that if I could only own one revolver it would be the model 19.

Depends on your personal goals. All I can add is I have two 19-3's one a 2 1/2" and a six inch. For me they balance and feel better in my hand than most all of my handguns. I have no plans on selling them. With that said I too have been looking at the 27's. They seem to be more difficult to find. I have a 29-2 4" I bought new in the 70's so I know what to expect from an N frame. But for me I feel my two 19's will do everything I want. I also have a 686-4 2 1/2" an 8 " Python and a 4" Ruger security six. Plus a 4" 681 and a 3" 13. I like 357's. But I dont have a 27 and may rectify that one day soon. Good luck.

Both are fine revolvers.
However, the M19 is handier and more versatile. It's handling characteristics are superior to the N frames for me. It can be used for CC much more readily than the 27.
You can shoot as much 357 ammo as you can tolerate in a 19, so there is no difference in terms of using the full range of 357 offerings.
If you can buy just one, get the 19

I prefer the 19 over the 27 as I feel the N frame is too big for the cartridge, but the 27 is definitely worth more than the 19, especially in the 5" barrel length. Buy the 27 and sell it. You could probably buy two 19s!

I'm lucky enough to have several of each. I enjoy shooting my M-27's with .357 Magnum ammo, the M-19's not so much. But my M-19's are my ready guns.

Get the 5 inch 27-2 and don't look back. There is simply no better gun in the S&W revolver line than the ".357" Magnum, whether it is pre-war Registered, non-Registered, Post-War or numbered Model, not including the Classic Series, in my opinion. You will not be sorry.

If the model 19 has a target trigger/hammer, I'd be more inclined toward getting it. It doesn't get any sweeter than K frame's with the three "T's".

If the dollars are the same, I'd get the 5" 27-2.
The 19 is a great, great revolver, and every S&W could use a good 19 or 66, but if the dollars are close and the condition is like, I'd get the 27-2.

I'd go with the 4 inch 27. Very hard to find.

The 27 has a much higher monetary value. If same price and condition the 27 is the much better buy. Also much stronger. The 5" is a class act. The 19 is smaller and lighter to carry better. Pick your poison.

I read into your original post you are set on the 27, unless you can be "talked out" of the 19.
In light of the fact that 19s are far and away more available than 27s, if I had to only get one, (for now) it would be the 27 in five inch. You did not say what the intended use is so.....

The model 19 is far and away my favorite S&W. I have 7 model 19s, and 4 M66s. To me, the 4" is the best balanced revolver that S&W ever made. It is aesthetically beautiful, and just so easy to handle.
All that being said, if you can get a 5" model 27 for the same money, buy the N frame!

I have owned a 2-1/2" Mod. 66-3 for a couple of decades. Great little shooter, and I can confirm that the 4" is still a good CC with the right holster and belt combo. While the Mod. 19 is enticing, I don't own a 27, so two that are LNIB would blow my mind. I guess if I owned a 27 and didn't own a 19 or a 66, my feelings would be just the opposite.
Like Old Bear said: What role do you want the gun to fulfill? I can only compare the difference between my 66 and 686. For me, the L Frame is definitely more user friendly than the K Frame when firing a lot of .357 magnum rounds. The heavier framed 27 would make a good shooter, and it would look great on your hip with a custom old school leather rig; however, the N Frame would be more difficult to carry concealed under light clothing than the K Frame.
