Any derringer shooters??

I've got a Davis .32 acp derringer.....bought it cheap quite a few years ago. I shoot a few rounds out of it occasionally. The sights aren't regulated very well so you can't hit anything very far away. I wouldn't rely on one for personal defense......but I wouldn't want to stand in front of one either.

A derringer is a "fun gun", just a cute little pistol to have and shoot, so enjoy!
I'd like to see Bond Arms make a 4 1/4" barrel .44 magnum.

Nice.
My LGS sells some of those along with the Bond Arms and NAA.

Some in 44 Mag! No way would I try one of those. 38 special seems sufficient to me:)

Like your signature:)

@ the range i belong to there is a reloader that only shoots .500 cal., .460`s, and a .454? i `ve learned to finish up fast or turn around and go to another range!! a couple of months ago john started to talk to me. we sat on a bench, and he showed me a loaded 45-70 derrenger. it is only single shot, maybe a 3" barrel. he carries it in his vest watch pocket. he pulled up yesterday, i wasn`t done, but i packed up to go. showed me a new .500 cal bullet that he was reloading. i was impressed w/ the weight.

I have an older American Arms (look like a Bond) in 357 mag. With 357's the lower barrel is on at 7yds. and the top is 17" high, with 38 158 the top barrel is on and the lower is 17" low so I use a mixed load, if I get it backwards they are 34" apart. I have Davis in 32ACP with Win. Silvertips it puts 4 shots in 4" (2 each barrel) at 7yds. When I go to "regulate" them, I set up large cardboard, have a table, many brand and weights of ammo, and make lots of notes (also masking tape to cover holes). On a Derringer that shoots "mixed" use a red perminent marker on a barrel and color the primers on ammo fo that barrel, also load notes only on what works is stored with the pistol. I have a 22mag High standard and a 38 Special on the same design by American that I haven't regulated yet, I'm thinking 1 to 2 hours of range time each. I have lots of Federal 40 grain "C" ammo I know not to use, I need to P/U partial boxes at the gun show. 38's, I'll try 5 to 6 varities of factory and 4 to 5 hand loads. A lot of work for an under the table gun! Ivan

.... I wouldn't rely on one for personal defense.....

Never even had a thought of using it for a carry gun or home defense. It's strictly a "I don't have one " of that type in my collection so now I do!:D I like to have a wide variety of types and brands as that is usually my way of selecting a new buy, something different I don't have. The price was too good to pass up. It will just be an occasional shooter.

I have the same gun. It has a pretty hefty recoil for a 38 SPL and past 7 feet is it kind of a poor shot but its still fun to shoot. I load it with wadcutters for a combination of lower recoil and a passable SD load. I doubt hollow points would significantly open with what amounts to about 1.4 inches of a rifled barrel. I actually took a possum with it once (Long story).

I've been using the High Standard .22 magnum derringer since the '70s. I modified this one to reduce the trigger pull weight and smooth out the action.

I bought this BTJ .38 derringer this week and will be testing it with more than a dozen .38 special loads including some Remington Multiball loads (R38SMB).

I worked on a 45 Colt caliber derringer many years back for a customer. A slightly oversized Remington style. Manufacturer was Mitchell Arms Co.
It was not fun to shoot at all. Just nothing to hang on to.

I engraved a pair of COP 4 bbl 357Mag derringers for a guy.
Small but very heavy,,they weren't too bad to shoot,,he said to try them out first!
All D/A trigger pull, 4 barrel pepperbox break open hammerless design in stainless.
I think the Semmerling 45acp I had was a better idea,,kind of,,, but neither was much of a pocket pistol.

Never much of a fan of the miniguns. I had one of the H/S derringers. It misfired a lot. Though many folks like them and maybe I just had a bad one. The factory couldn't fix it either.
The beginning of the end of my new gun buying I think...$40 down the drain..

I often carry a Bond Arms as a BUG. Mine is .45 Colt/.410. Carry as a .410 for snakes with 7 1/2 shot, and as a .410 with PDX1 loads for two-legged critters. Sometimes as a .45 Colt, but not often. Well built gun.
