Anyone have experience with Direct Buy? About to begin a major remodel, kitchen, two bathrooms and dinning room. Any experiences good or bad would like to hear about. Thanks

Looked into it a couple of years ago. Entry fee is HIGH. Read comments and most were negative - old catalogs, prices not that great, delivery problems. Do your homework before signing up and have a big project that you are considering.

A guy I use to work with at one of my previous employer 3 or 4 of yrs ago was a Direct Buy member, IIRC his membership fee is $2000 at that time, he said he saved a bundle because he is building a new house.

I kinda remain skeptical, I think he just don't want to admitted he's been taken, like the other poster said catalogs are outdated, some of the stuff are end of the line and you may find price cheaper at some other big box outlet.

I would be very careful before I fork over 2 grand to join, they are runnig ads on TV all day long, guess who is paying for them?

Check with the BBB and your state's Attorney Generals office before you take the plunge. IIRC they are, or have been, sued in several states.

When interested at one time, I did some internet review looking and saw statements that the entry fee was $5000 and your savings was supposedly going to be 25%. That stated, if everything was on the up and up, you would need to spend 20,000 just to recover your 5000 investment. Buyer Beware, DO YOUR RESEARCH.

I just built a new house, and had an Amish fellow do all the cabinets. His quote was less than half of others, and the workmanship was superb! Gave my wife the opportunity to spend the savings several times over...

I have read that the entry fee varies depending on where you live. That is the reason you see the large variance reported.

Wife insisted we go talk to them. Long sales pitch, "we'll only give you this one chance to join", and the join fee was $6,000. We laughed and walked away. Further digging online showed that we made the right choice. As others have said, lots of reports of old product, end-of-life products, poor after-sale service, delivery issues, etc.

Save the cash and put it directly into what you want, not "membership" in some guy's wallet.

My wife and I listened to their sales pitch in LV about a year ago. I was skeptical from the start. The entry fee was just under $6k. We also laughed and walked away. Later read of several complaints to the State's AG office and the BBB. IMHO, this is one scheme to avoid. .... Big Cholla
