I know that stupidity is more common than "common" sense, which is really deductive reasoning ability.

Someone, I think von Runstedt, gave a summary of the qualities of military officers and which jobs they were suited for. Year ago I had a job that involved some equipment modifications to reduce field problems.

I found that a below average employee was quite useful.
