Any good S&W CCW 9mm

blastfact:

If you're interested, you might take a look at the CS9. I just had a chance to compare mine directly to a PF9 a couple of weeks ago. The CS9 is about 1/8" longer in the slide, a little thicker, and a bit taller than the PF9, but the weight is close enough that I don't think I'd notice the difference. The standard Hogue grips are really too thick for my taste, but a pair of Big Dog's Delrin grips take care of that.

Personally, I think the CS9 is a little bit better shooter than the PF9, and I suspect it will have a longer mechanical lifespan.

There is no doubt the CS9 will out shot a PF-9 at 15 to 25 yards. It ain't bad. I carry for very deep maybe seen by some as a tad hard to get to In time. And the very last thing I'm going to do is pull the pistol or even think or displaying it. I will run, hide, warn, then shoot in public. I don't need to be making shots out farther than 10 yards.

As for durability? As of today i think I've owned the pistol seven weeks. And have shot over 3k rounds through it. I have shot every cheap box of 50 or 100 round stuff I could find to see if it would fail. It hasn't yet. I've shot boutique ammo, SD ammo and my own reloads through it. Chambered, fired and ejected it all. JHP, FMJ, Lead, 115 to 160gr. rounds. It's all worked.

The only issue I had with it was the screw that holds the extractor / plate extractor spring and limits firing pin travel came loose. Yes it's a known issue. And a very easy fix with Loc-Tite Blue. I called Ket-Tec and spoke with them about it. Even though I fixed it. They mailed me a new firing pin, spring and screw for my trouble. They would have also sent me a extractor and spring if I thought I needed them.

On top of that I got it dirt cheap. Kel-Tec anything is just a notch above a kit gun. Finish is poor at best. Mine is a second. The machine work on the slide was worse than ComBlock work. I cleaned that up. And it's tight as heck. With a loaded mag and one chambered or a empty pistol. You can't shake it hard enough to make it rattle or make a noise. So finish sucks. Fit ain't bad. :) $200 NIB,,,,, Met all of my needs. And has excelled in area's I did not expect.

Fair enough. I'm not knocking the Kel-Tec--there's definitely a place in the world for inexpensive, functional pistols. If you are happy with yours, I personally think that's great. But there's a big difference between "the PF9 meets all my needs" and "S&W does not make a deep conceal weapon".

I just thought maybe you'd appreciate some information from someone who has done a direct comparison.

They are still producing the guns but as a LEO order item only. When you go to S+W'S site they are under the law enforcement and military categories unless this policy has recently been changed....God Bless..MIke

Yep, correct. I've got K&R looking into it for me. :D

3913s are the greatest made. The reason they are discontinued is because of the poly frame revolution. Everyone wants a two ounce 100 round gun. I depend on my 3913 with total faith. Never a fail to fire, jam or malfunction yet. Hope this helps.
