I recently bought a S&W Performance Center 629 V-Comp and it was shooting 18" high at 50 yards with the rear sight bottomed out. I sent it back to S&W to have them fix the gun so it shoots to the point of aim.
Does anyone have any idea how long they will probably take to get my gun back to me? I was just wondering what to expect. They didn't give me any expected time frame when I asked.
Thanks

Warranty work is still reasonably quick.
Custom and other work is more backed up. More like 6+ weeks.
I called them a few days ago as I hadn't gotten an estimate letter on a 64 and 624 that have been in a while.
CS said "those guys are really buried with work down there".
Guess you can do your own conclusions from that.
Personally, if there's ANY work on a Smith that I cannot do it automatically goes to Springfield.

3 weeks doesn't sound bad. 6 weeks seems a little long but I don't mind as long as they make it shoot right. Thanks guys.

Sent one in on a recall with their label they sent me 2nd Day Air. A week after I Fedexed my revolver to them I got a notice from CS saying I should have it back on 3 to 4 weeks. Got home from work the next day and had a notice that Fedex attempted a delivery that needed a signature. I call Fedex and arranged to pick up my package the next day. Went by and there was my Smith that I wasn't supposed to get back for 3 or 4 weeks. Go figure.

As stated above anything on warrantee/return work is right around 3-4 weeks or less. As soon as you want something custom done even if it is already there for warrantee it has to go to the custom shop and they are decently backlogged, the estimates I have been given over the past two weeks from their CS ranges depending on work being done from 1 1/2-3 months. Keep in mind that just like SA, S&W likes to give out alittle bit longer estimates that way your happy/surprised when you get it back early. Atleast that has been my experience. YMMV

I recently sent my new 629 out to make it the way it should have been brand new, it took 6 weeks and the work appears satisfactory.
