Any Love for Ruger Single Actions?

Wyatt, if it upsets you to have that lonely set of stags, you could send 'em east. We could put 'em on MY 3-screw Super.

Anything to help a bud. :D
I would be perfectly willing to sell or trade ‘em, but I can’t. My nephew bought a SBH and preferred the optional rubber Pachs. that came with it and he gave me the stags. So looks like I need another SBH. Or a SBH grip frame to put on my .357 Blackhawk and put them on it.

I really like my 50th FT 44 also. Tell us about those grips. Really like them

Dan

Thanks. Those are "Spalted Maple". I don't remember the makers name, I bought them off of ebay a number of years ago. They are cut a little thicker than standard Ruger grips, and for my big hands, that makes all the difference in feel and recoil comfort. I like the 50th Flat Top as well. The balance and shootability of the 6 1/2 inch barrel is nice, and it is one of my more accurate Ruger S/A's. I have been seriously considering having it refinished in a high polish bright blue.

Hey. I like that Mersin & Hulbert. If that’s what it is, that is. And what an excellent handgun safe arrangement. I might steel your idea.
Yes, that's a Merwin Hulbert Pocket Army in .44-40, with a folding hammer. I'm pretty sure I've posted about it before.

In the thread about safe storage, further down another member posted about modifying his safe in a similar way but was able to find a place online that would make custom size drawers, as opposed to building them from scratch like I did.

I would post links but I'm away from home and using my phone.

My Blackhawk, in 45 LC, was my first handgun and got me started handloading. It has a Super Blackhawk grip frame and hammer. The grips are Eagle Grips imitation ivory. The ejector rod housing was replaced with a steel version with a small round head rod. Lee's Gunsmithing provided the Gunslinger Spring Kit. The front sight has a brass insert, but I blacked out the sides, so it's hard to see from the pictures. The gun was given a fine polishing and high gloss bluing. I had the gunsmith polish and blue the sides of the hammer and trigger. I like the different look. Of course, it's accurate too. 8 grains of Unique and a 250 grain semiwadcutter are the favored load.

I have a NMBH , 4 5/8" barrel in 41 magnum . It had a lot of custom work done by the previous owner . The smaller grip never fit my larger hand , so I had thought about selling it . I decided to give it one more try and down load it to what the 41 was originally intended to be , a 41 special using a 200 gr bullet at about 900 fps . That also closely duplicates the old 38 WCF (38-40) . I didn't have a 200 gr bullet so I used a 210 over 6.0 grs of WST . Man oh man what a winner . I'll definitely keep it now . Shooting it one handed is easy . It's a fun gun to shoot , very accurate , plenty of power and easy to handle . I have a left hand holster for it so it could easily become my " out in the desert " gun . Now I need to work on my OM Vaquero , 4 5/8" in 45 C , same smallish grip . Regards, Paul

I have been looking at a Ruger Blackhawk convertible, the 5 1/2" 38/357 with the extra 9mm cylinder. My reason for interest in this model is that it is the only 5 1/2" version available. I do not need or want the 9mm cylinder. My concern is this:
38 special and 357 magnum bullet diameters are .357 for jacketed and .358 for lead. Nine mm bullets measure .355 and .356 by comparison. So I wonder about the groove diameter of the barrel. It cannot shoot both 38/357 and 9mm well. It is either too big for 9mm or too small for 38/357. Any insights that you could provide would be welcomed.
