Any M&P R8 owners?

Probably a very nice gun. I own lots of S&Ws, but will never, EVER buy a new one, as long as they have Hilliary's orifice on them. You shouldn't either.

My wife has a TRR8 and she loves it! Very little recoil, accurate, and fun to shoot.
Years ago she would only shoot my 22's when we went to the range. I let her shoot my S & W, 686PP (6" barrel) loaded with 38 special. She kinda liked it. I asked her if she wanted to run another six rounds through it and she agreed to. I loaded 357 mag in this time because I knew she would not have a problem with it. After shooting this time I asked how she liked it? She did and hasn't had a problem with (reasonable) recoil since. Now she has her own 357 Mag and loves it. :D

Here's a picture of my Performance Center 627.

I bought my R8 several years ago before the crunch on guns and ammo because i liked the feel of it. Very comfortable to shoot full Magnum loads with the original grips as pictured above in other replies. Because it is Performace Center, it was a few hundred dollars more brand new than I wanted to pay, but it is a very nice gun. I just said "What the hey !!" - and bought it ! Glad i did now noting reported wait times.

TRR8 charmer

Bought my TRR8 two years ago, used. Love the McGivern bead and wide notch rear sight, very quick to acquire. I haven't tried optical sights on it, though have been tempted to try a Burris Fast Fire on it as I have an extra on-hand. I think the reason that the previous owner sold his gun is that the headspace was excessive - I have had to set it back .006 to get it back into spec. Probably should have sent it back to Smith & Wesson, but since I can do the smithing work, I just did it. The TRR8 is the sweetest shooting .357 Mag I have ever shot, and that includes Pythons, Troopers, Model 19s and Model 27s, plus several single actions. It is a real pleasure to shoot. For a holster, I use a Blade-Tech. For a light, I use a Streamlight TLR-3. Fits well, and the switch is pretty intuitive. Enjoy yours when you get it.

The FastFire works so well on the R8 that a bud who is a former LEO stated that my my groups have dramatically improved. It wasn't me but the use of the FastFire. For these old eyes its becoming more and more difficult to see the gaps on each side of the front sight (i.e., sight picture). The R8 is so well suited for that site (compact, light, etc.) that I wouldn't considering having mine any other way. Try it... you won't go back.

I have owned a R8 for about 6 months. Put about 400 rounds through it with no problems (.357Mag and .38special). Solid grip, good iron sights. Bought a leather cross-chest holster rig molded for the R8 from Simply Rugged (http://shop.simplyrugged.com/ecommerce/Sourdough-Pancake™-.cfm?item_id=151&parent=669) - Sourdough Pancake holster with Chesty Puller Harness system; versatile rig for X-chest, shoulder and side arm positions.
