Any manufacturers offering the 38spl. 148gr. wadcutter load with the copper jacket?

It appears that Atlanta Arms carries a 148gr. wadcutter that is copper jacketed. I know there are a couple of companies, I think Berry and Rainier, that have the bullets, but since I'm not reloading now, that isn't an option.

I'm just wondering if there are any factory loads, like the above Miwall load, currently available using the copper clad wadcutters, and if anyone has any experience using them, and if they run cleaner through the revolver.

I can answer the question about whether they run cleaner (I roll my own, so I have no idea whether any such factory ammo exists - I doubt it). I have loaded WC ammo to target and defensive velocities with soft swaged, hardcast, and plated swaged bullets (these last by both Berry's and Rainier). I find that they all shoot clean at target velocities. I find that the hardcast and plated swaged bullets shoot cleaner at defensive velocities, but that the plated bullets are not any cleaner than the hardcast. I've not shot plated swaged bullets up at the velocities where hardcasts begin to lead.

The only "factory" jacketed full wad cutter stuff I ever saw was Blazer IIRC? But with my memory I can hide my own Easter eggs so...?

Mastercast (http://www.mastercast.net), a reloading service that I do business with, has what you are looking for. Nine bucks and change per box of fifty with your spent brass in exchange. I have fired off at least 7,000 (stopped counting) of their .38sp and 9x19 reloads without a single bobble. I highly recommend them, as do others on such websites as this one. For what it is worth, I shoot their hardcast 148gr DEWC range load, and have never had a leading problem with them. Right now, with things being the way they are, Mastercast requires your brass in exchange in most calibers (not 9 x 19). I send up to 1,500 spent cases in USPS Priority Mail's nine-buck-and-change box. Any other way I know of would cost twenty.

As your other responses indicate, I may have provided you with your only source of 148gr DEWC copper-enclosed ammo.

Thanks for the information on the jacketed wadcutter. I never knew anyone manufactured them. I had see the copper plated WC manufactured by Rainer and Berry's.

I've fired Atlanta Arms 148gr. coated wadcutter. I don't like it very much. It is accurate and performs well, but it is a filthy round! The last time I used it, it left the chambers of my 686 coated with a thick black residue that I found next to impossible to scrub out. It took a couple of hours of brushing with a bronze brush wrapped with bronze wool to finally get rid of the buildup.
