I'm 65 and the only medication I take is testosterone because my level was below 300 and I couldn't even run 300 yards. It works great and luckily that's the only prescription item I need now and I get full physicals and blood tests twice a year, however I can tell my body has been changing the last year and don't have the strength, stamina, or flexibility I use to. I'm sure the older I get more issues will pop up, but just curious about how many 65 and older still don't need to take any prescription meds?

Taking a Blood Pressure pill.
Vitamins, fish oil, and Saw Palmetto.
A previous Doc told me to take the Saw Palmetto.
Funny thing, several Docs have raised their eyebrows but none have told me to stop taking it.
I did stop the Baby Aspirin after discussion with my Lady Doc.
With the unusual name.
Told her - Only time I ever heard your name was in a movie.
War movie, submarines.
Her name is Dr. Bungo.

Run 300 yards? I'm not sure I'd feel like walking that far!
The only script I feel I take that actually does anything useful is my back pain pills. After my appt. next month I probably won't need to take the Metformin, as I'm down in the lower 170s now...way less than I was. I only have one pair of dress pants that aren't way too big, as I found out for the viewing & funeral last week. I think I have a pill for cholesterol or something that I probably don't need anymore. Besides my mind being fried in the '70s, I haven't had any real issues yet at 67 YO.

Someone once said if you remember the 70's you weren't there.

After a couple hundred thousand dollars worth of pharmaceuticals in the last year I'm down to two prescriptions. Still have my Bard's Power Port installed if they need to inject any more poison into my body.

After two years of trying diet and exercise, I finally had to give in and go on the Lipitor diet. The effect on my cholesterol was immediate. I do the CoQ10 thing as advised, too.

Before that I would get the "Sir! You've forgotten to list your meds!" in a stern voice from front office people. They got my special stink eye and an icy, "I don't take any." All too often they had the nerve to give me the "You're a lying toad" look, the joke being they were all younger than me and clearly in worse health.

I turned 66 this past March and take ZERO Rx Meds of any kind. Of course, I don't go to doctors, either. I'm sure they would find all kinds of things wrong with me if I did. I stay physically busy as much as I can but sure don't have the strength/stamina that I did a few years ago. I never got into that nasty habit of smoking (cigarettes), and I don't consume as much alcoholic beverages as I used to....I just buy better bourbon now. Everything in moderation.

I am going to turn 66 in less than 3 weeks. I quit drinking ANY alcoholic beverages over 30+ years ago and quit smoking around the same time. About 17 years ago I started producing kidney stones and have not been without some in my system since. Currently keeping them in check with only 2 Rx's & 1 OTC med. that are standard treatment for my type of stones. I highly recommend doing everything you can to avoid developing them because they suck HUGELY.
Like my Urologist said. Women complain about how bad childbirth is, but they willingly get pregnant and do it again and again. He has never had ANY woman ask to pass kidney stones more than once.

Run 300 yards at age 65? Good for you brother.
It is mostly genetics that pave our pathways to old age. Exercise and diet certainly help but almost everyone's trouble light comes on about age 60 plus.
I take 4 meds for my inherited BP and cholesterol issues that all my mothers relatives have or had. My father got lost in the rush early on, so I don't know that side of family's issues, other than alcohol.
I take vitamins and exercise regularly.
I'm 71, but I feel like I'm still 70 and a half.

Somehow I think most of us old ones wouldn't be talking here if it weren't for modern medicine. I have a regime for each day. Almost ten years now, other than the eye drops.

Lisinopril-HCTZ
Lovastatin
Amlodiopine Besylate
Ahreds 2 mega-vitamins for my AMD (twice a day)
Multi vitamin
Turmeric and Black Pepper (helps with arthritis - it works)
Latanoprost Opthamolic for my glaucoma

Kinda like living the old Jefferson Airplane song - "One pill makes you larger, one pill makes you small..."
