I was looking at the VZ grips as a potential replacement to the black rubber grips on the the 627. Apparently they have two different styles, smooth style and one that is aggressively textured. I don't plan to conceal and carry and just plan on plinking with the pistol. Any opinions on these grips or suggestions for any others? Don't know that I want to go the wood grained route as it seems they don't cushion my hand as well.

I have a set on my M24

I have a set on my 3" M24, and am very happy. I got the smooth version. Very comfortable & fit is great. Also have the aggressive VZ grips on my 1911 & CZ 75 that I use for IDPA.

But will say grips are are a very subjective thing, as everyone's' hands & gun use are different.

I have the smooth VZ G10 stocks on my 3" 657 and couldn't be happier. They are a good product for the money.

I have the aggressively textured grips on my Gunsmoke Deep Cover....they ARE very aggressive but I happen to like them. I won't feel them cutting into my hand should I ever need to use the weapon in a defensive situation and they sure aren't going to slip out of my hand!!

I practice with the gun both with and without shooting gloves on, mainly shooting gloves if putting quite a few rounds through it. Very "pointy" nubs.

If you're looking for grips that will cushion your hands, I'm not sure VZ is what you're looking for. They are great grips and offer great control, but no cushioning at least that I'm aware of. I would suggest trying Pachmyar Decelerator grips. They offer cushioning and help in controlling the gun.

Oh I missed the "cushion" part. My VZs don't cushion at all and the aggressive certainly wouldn't be fun at the range plinking.

I'm kinda weird but I love Traush grips for revolvers. Ugly as a one night stand the morning after but comfortable as hell.

Will the Pachmyar grips look and fell better than the rubber type stock grip that is on there? Thanks for all the replies....

Not VZ but have you looked at these yet?

They're the ones that come on the 627PC/327Carry and are very comfortable, I've got 5 sets now on various guns. Call the S&W customer service number and order Product Code: 414170000 - $49 plus shipping/tax.
