Any reason not to buy a Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Lite?

I have a MKIII 22/45 Lite and have changed nearly everything in it. It now wins matches regularly. A friend has the MK 4 Lite and I like his better.
The 4 is super easy to break down to clean where the 3 you need to have a village available to help.
His trigger after using it a while is almost as good as my upgraded trigger, the accuracy of his stock upper match's my upgraded upper.
I'd say buy the 4 and enjoy it.

I have a MK IV 22/45 Lite . Accuracy is actually pretty good for a short barreled light weight gun . I shoot with iron sights...fiber optic front but was curious about the level accuracy so I temporarily installed a red dot .
At 25 yards using CCI Stnd Velo or Mini Mags groups were all less than 2 inches and with the Stnd Velo mostly in the 1.5 inch range . Not at all bad I thought and better than I expected .
Also it's been very reliable.
I bought the gun to use mainly for shooting steel plate matches but found that I was unable to shoot as quickly or as well with it as with
my MK III Target which is an all steel gun and weighs considerably more.
I find the Lite model to be a little too whippy ...if that makes sense... whereas in my case at least the heavier all steel gun just handles a lot better and settles down well in my hand .
I see the Lite models used a fair bit at the steel plate matches and others do well with them ...just not me .
I should also add that because of it's light weight it's rather difficult to hold steady on small targets so it doesn't make for a good target gun if that's what you were thinking of .
Larger targets such as steel plates and you should be fine.

That's a nice lookin' pistol. Congrats! Consider the TK Pro muzzle device (see post #18). It adds just the right amount of weight at the front to balance that pistol very nicely.

Thanks! Got a Tactical Solutions "compensator" coming from Midway. Should be here Monday. Just liked the look of it better.

Meh....The TacSol MD is Ok, it just won't add any weight to the front since it's aluminum. I had one but opted for the TK since it's steel, thus a bit heavier than the TacSol X-Ring.

Matter of opinion. If the reassembly instructions in the owner's manual are followed, there is no problem. I can strip and reassemble my MK2 in less than 30 seconds because I learned the procedure in the manual. Ì then practiced it until I could do it with my eyes closed or in the dark. Most people that have problems with the MK1, 2 or 3 didn't read the manual.

OMG, do you seriously expect us to read the instructions? If it ain't intuitive I don't want the product.

I realize that the early Marks a a huge problem. I just learned it because I saw it on the internet. Truth be told I have been cleaning my Mark I since about 1980. The book was quite clear to me.

My MarkII was a laser. It was worth having some fiddly bits, in my opinion. It was the first gun I ever bought. The first thing I did the day I got it was read the book and learn the disassembly/reassembly procedure. It's still what I do to this day. I've had this one apart now like 8 times already. I think I've got it down.
