Any Submariners?

One of my hands was a submariner on a nuke. He did something stupid while helmsman and was relegated to winding the boats clocks for the remainder of his voyage.
That boy never was quite right, but he was that way before he joined the Navy.;)
Wishing a safe and un eventful one for your son.

Long, long ago in an ocean far, far away, I was a submariner. Every submarine I knew has long been razor blades and scrap iron.

How long has your son been on the New Hampshire? Is he qualified? If not tell him to get hot and get off the dinq list:D:D.

Planning on having the dolphins by May. He's a good kid, should be up for early advancement.

My nephew was on Nuke subs in USN til he blew his knee playing beach volley ball in HI on base.

Got discharged as USN said his knee wouldnt allow him to climb ladders etc onboard.

Funny thing 15 yrs later he is a LT in the Austin Fire Dept. Guess they have different ladders on ships than on fire trucks.

GO NAVY!

Always thought subs would be hard time duty. I can still manage a decent hump but no one but Aquaman can swim home from a sub.

Coincidentally, this came up just now in a FB submarine group I'm part of. (USSVI= United States Submarine Veterans, Inc)

Several yrs ago, while in Honolulu, I went on board the submarine U.S. Bowfin. It was moored at Pearl Harbor and was in service during the 1940s.
I certainly wouldn't want to be on board, particularly during wartime. The close quarters of subs of that type would drive me nuts. I would recommend anyone planning a trip to Hawaii to go onboard though.

Been there, done that!

USN 1961-1969 USS Sea Cat(SS399) USS Abraham Lincoln(SS/FBM 602)
I only got to steer the boat during quals but I could have turned the lights out any time while on watch(EM2 SS)! 5 patrols in water that was 30degs and damn rough, even at 350ft! I refused to take the first class test because I probably would have been a lifer, my family was more important to me! Tell your son "thanks for carrying on the tradition of going to sea in a sub"!

I never served but the WWII boats fascinate me. I have several books with "find em, chase em, sink em" being the best.

I have been on the USS PAMPANITO in San Fran.

My hats off to the silent service and all who have served in any capacity .

My niece did a tour on one of the nuclear subs, USS Louisiana i believe. I guess it is not just a man's realm anymore. She has done very well so far in the Navy.

It's kind of scary......

It's kind of scary that they didn't pick on on that sooner. Of course we probably don't hear about most of them that get helicopter rides off the sub in the middle of the ocean.
