My wife and I recently completed our cpl training course. She was so excited that she wanted to rush to On Target (our local gun shop) and buy a pistol right then and there (witch made me excited). So, I wanted her to look at something small and easy to conceal like a 380 or similar. She rushed right to the 9mm case and picked out an M&P9 and an SD9, to my surprise. She didn't want a "small" gun, besides, she carries a purse and can hide it better then i can only carrying a wallet. she liked both but I was unsure of the SD because it is the replacement for the sigma, and we all know the problems others have had.
So, anyone with experience with an SD9?

Sounds like your info is a decade or so out of date.
No particular design problems have been reported with the current Sigmas or the SDs, only isolated QC issues quickly fixed.
My personal choice for carry would be the M&P9C, but all of the M&Ps and SDs are GTG.

All three; the Sigma, the SD9 and the M&P are very good guns. Each step up the ladder gets you a little better gun for a little more money. If you can afford the M&P, then get it. Mine is an awesome machine and shoots like a dream. If you need to save a few bucks get the SD9. I cannot imagine you would be disappointed with either.

We have the SD9, feels great in your hand, shoots where you point it, and has never missed a beat. Ran about 500 rounds through it so far. Great gun for what we paid, $399 with case and 2 clips. Would not hesitate to get another. My .02 cents.

Take care,

Had mine just over a month. 1000+ rounds through it now with NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER. No FTF, no FTE, no stovepipes, no jams, nothing! I OC this gun every day and trust it to protect myself and the people I care about.
