I might be getting mushy in the head but I have been thinking of replacing my trusty 6906, a gun that has never failed once in the 25 years I have used it. Friends tell me "a 25 year old gun needs replaced with something more modern." I have had my CWP for 31 years in Florida, carried "when needed" before that. That said, I'm most comfortable with an "exposed hammer" sidearm carried with the safety off. It's most like a revolver that I've had some training with and having my thumb on the hammer when holstering soothes me. I own both Glock and 1911 and have researched others but everyday carry "A man has to know his limitations. So what say you, P 07 a worthy heir to my "right side 4 o'clock" position? Joe

I have not had a PO7 but have researched them extensively. They are a great side arm and loved by many! I have looked at several examples in person. My main hesitation with any polymer gun has dwindled down to polymer triggers and my dislike for them. I know they can be replaced but I'm just not a fan of having to buy a gun just to upgrade it. That was my only gripe regarding the P07, otherwise it seemed like a solid pistol. Personally I went the sign p320 route with the new X Compact version. I like the contoured grip, and flat metal trigger. Not sure yet how I feel about carrying a striker fired pistol with no external safety though. Like you I'm typically a 1911 and revolver guy.

I shot my P07 the first time Friday morning. Very impressed, also a 75B compact. I didn't feel much recoil difference between the poly frame and the all steel compact. I have Night Fision sights on the 75B. A good upgrade. And have a set for the P07 to install.

The P07 has CZ's Omega trigger it comes as a decocker. The parts are included to switch it to a safety. For cocked and locked carry. It will still shoot DA, but the trigger must be lowered by hand.

I had a PO7 for about a year. It was reliable and accurate. I did switch to the manual safety and then back to the decocker system. I never got comfortable with the DA/SA. Never did carry the gun. I prefer DA only revolvers or SA only 1911's I want every trigger pull to be the same. My PO7 in SA only was less than 2lb trigger. Too light for a carry gun.

Mine shot very well and functioned flawlessly through well over 1000 rounds. My brother liked it a LOT.....Happy Birthday Little Brother!

I still have 7-8 other CZ's to run ammo downrange.

You cannot go wrong with any CZ product!

If you are looking at the CZ P-07 you could also look at the Sig 2022, FNH FNX-9, and H&K P30sk.

Personally I can't imagine my getting rid of a 6906 that has been flawless for twenty-five years. If I could swing it I might keep the 6906 and get the P-07 to go with it. Guess I'm a sentimental old fool, but I have trouble getting rid of long-time friends, guns that have served me well for years.

I had an inherited 669, the predecessor to your 6906. I thought about upgrading it to 6906 configuration but decided to trade it in on a CZ75 P-01 Compact. Both are about the same size, weight, capacity and are hammer fired. I have no regrets at all. The P-01 is accurate, reliable, aluminum framed, and had very ergonomic and comfortable grips. It does have a rail, which is deleted in the CZ75 PCR. The PCR has a more sculpted nose and will conceal easier. Otherwise, the PCR is the same great carry pistol as the P-01.

I recently purchased a P-01 Omega compact. It has the decocker that can be converted to safety ie. cocked and locked. It is the size of a Glock 19 with 15 ads. Sent it off to Cajun Gun Works for their Pro package. Very nice gun now and they are very reliable as well.

I won't get rid of the 6906, it has good "juju." I'm just thinking out loud. I have an HK USP 45 compact but I'd hate to "lose it to evidence." Most folks object to different D/a s/a trigger pull. To me all carry weapons are "best compromise" for my limited skill set. Joe

I like guns with external hammers but none of the polymer guns with hammers seem "right" to me. The striker fired poly guns are O.K. if that's what you want but the steel or alloy pistols with a hammer like a Smith, Sig, or CZ are much more appealing to me.
