If so, had any problems with the security system? I have a neighbor who is locked out of his GC for about the seventh time in three weeks. He is from a small town and has never removed the keys from his vehicle or locked his vehicle until this summer, when he moved to metro Atlanta. I don't think the security system allows the vehicle to locks itself while the key and fob are inside, so I assume something is wrong with his. Any info would be appreciated.

I have a suspicion that there is some operator error or lack of RTFM involved here. I suspect the guy is remembering to lock the vehicle by pressing the lock on the remote or on the door, then tossing or placing the keys back in the truck followed by shutting the door. I would bet that leaving the keys in the vehicle is so ingrained he does not know he does it.

My wife had her relatives in a small town totally baffled after borrowing their truck. Yep, she had locked it on returning to the house. The joke was that the flustered cousin had the keys in her hand, but at no time attempted to use them to open the "stuck" door. When my wife told them that the truck was locked, she was looked at with utter disbelief. "Who does that?" was the cry.

Am fairly sure a Jeep doesn't have
"passive lock/unlock" so if your pal is locking himself out it's wholly operator error.

Be safe.

My gosh, this brings back memories of a headache, I had a similiar problem with our Nissan Titan. The truck would sometimes respond to the remote, sometimes not. Two or three trips to the dealer to figure it out. It turned out that the battery in the remote had reached it's end and the truck would not get the proper strength signal. Nissan replaced both FOB's and made sure they worked and it's been six months with out a hitch.

Thanks for the replies. After it locked up on him this weekend, he dropped it off at the dealership.
