A friend who owned a gunshop, a few years ago , sold me a large bottle telling me how great a product it was. I must admit I've never used it but once. I put some on a patch to clean a shotgun barrel with and didn't like the odor at all ( it STINKS ) . I swabbed the barrel and put the gun away hoping the smell would dissipate...it did. Now, with the price of everything rising , I got to thinking I shouldn't be wasteful, and find a use for it. So whats it good for? The bottle says it's good for gun cleaning, barrels, fouling etc. ,wood and leather, but I don't know if I want it soaking into anything porous. Any feedback on clenzoil is appreciated.

I use it all the time and like it. Use for cleaning, lubrication, & rust prevention. I don't think I've ever used it on leather, but have wiped it on the stocks along with the metal.

Oil

I have used it for 10 years or so, I bought several shotguns from a fellow named Bill Hanus who paseed this past year. He had a web site for small bore shotgun enthusiasts and that is how I became acquainted with him and the oil. He always packed a bottle of the Clenzoil oil with a purchased shotgun. And as these were usually pricey double guns, that says something about his opinion of the oil. I use it exclusively when wiping down my guns, especially my O/U or SxS shotguns.
It has been around for years and it will always have a place in my range box and on my bench. They also make a "hinge pin jelly" that I also use on my break open long guns.

Funny, I like the smell (esp. when compared to other commercial gun oils). I heard about it from Doc44 here. My recollection was that he used it on his 'shooters' (I guess he doesn't photograph those guns, cause everything he posts is absolutely pristine!). I recall he uses Ren wax on the 'queens'. I'm on my third purchase (finally bought a gallon) and I use it on most of my guns. Not sure about mixing it with Ren wax? Interesting story with the brochure - it was developed for Artic expeditions designed not freeze up actions.
