Just wondering of the thoughts of others here. For those who don't know this is a show that came on NatGeo tuesday night.

I watched it, interesting show I think along the same lines, BUT then I remembered that I was going to watch "Justified" at the same time slot. Jeff

I was eagerly anticipating the show but was a bit disapointed

in that they seemed to seek out folks that were a little far out.

Kinda like after the Tornado roars through and the action news reporters try to find someone with no front teeth and a real bad accent to interview for live at 6:00.

My brother told me about the show and I intended to watch, but fell asleep on the couch. I missed it. I like the topic. I can see a future where this kind of knowledge will be valuable. Just hope that the producers don't go too deep into the "crazy".

I'll try and catch the next episode. Maybe I can figure out how the DVR works!

Hey, will DVRs work after the system fails?

I was disappointed myself. Yes some seem to be a little off. i think you need to be prepared but come on 22 years worth of food or a bug out car hidden out 10 miles away from home.

Yeah; I watched part of it. Sort of going back to the land craze a few years ago. One young fella said he didn't have a gun, if somebody came by out of food & water he would try to help. Try to talk him out of shooting him for his food & water. Sort of sitting down & having a beer fiasco a couple of years ago.

Same sort of stuff was going on in the early eighties when I was young. Now I'm kind of old and none of it happened.Started a business and raised a family in the interim.

I learned if you live in a house made of shipping containers, and then shoot your house with a .22 rifle, you will leave a mark.

A typical show by liberal producers trying to make those who are preparing look like kooks. I know many who are prepared and keep it to themselves and have regular jobs and are decent Americans.

I found the show quite entertaining and somewhat educational. I thought it showed Survilalist's in a sympathetic light...

I did get a kick out of the Houston, Tx. chick who was stockpiling condoms, and whose escape plan was to hike through Houston with a huge backpack and tent, with a goal of getting to a vehicle and then driving to Mexico.

Unfortunately, that is the point of "reality" entertainment. Normal folks are not very entertaining. The wackier the better (gater getters, XXX houswives, survivor, etc.) Let's face it, there is a world of diference between being prepared and spending your life preparing for armed conflict with everyone outside of your family.

i wouldnt go on national tv telling people about my stuff. i think the oldsters in new england are a bit naive not beleiving in having any guns for defense.
i noticed nobody has solar or even a solar panel for the well.

I have'nt seen this show but i'm just taking the approach that i'll
play it by ear. I have lots of ammo/components but thats about it. If things get real bad i can hunt or take what i need. Heck, if it gets to total anarchy it might not be a world you'd want to live in anyways. But i feel i can take care of me and my family.

I just watched the previews and this was my impression. The people being portrayed appeared to be more than a little bit nuts. Which is the impression I think the producers were trying to make.

If you're really going to prepare for a disaster, the first step is to keep your mouth shut about it. Nothing like going on national TV to make yourself a target.

This show, made to disparage mindsets and feed stereotypes really had me engaged for 3 minutes. There was a morbidly obese guy with a HAM radio that could easily make it for 8 weeks without eating. Is it a bunch of tinfoil hat types with compulsive disorders? I'd say that cleaning out your closet, sending a "just thinking about you" card to your mother-in-law, or cleaning out your downspouts would be time more joyfully spent.

How's that saying go...If you run outside with your rifle in your hands and look around and you're the only one, it's not time yet?

Reminded me of the "Duck and Cover" days of the 1950's when building bomb shelters was the craze of the day. Had a neighbor who dug up his backyard and made one...stocked it with some canned food and a transistor radio. Doubt if it would have done him much good....all the neighbor kids, including me, used it as a Fort.

Nothing like going on National TV and showing the world where your stash is hidden, including all of your weapons. One well placed bomb would take out those storage containers with no problem. Never in my life have I seen so much doom and gloom on TV...makes you wonder where we are going, and more importantly, how did we get here??
