Have and experience with the Speer gold dot short barrel in .38 special. Planning on using them in my 442-2 and I'm looking for suggestions.

Happily I've never had to shoot anything but targets with them. This is the round I carry in my 442-2 no lock.

They shoot great and are reliable.

Just bought mine nib for 400 dollars no lock either I love it

It's a great round. I've done some testing for both velocity and expansion, and it performs at least as well as advertised. Accurate, as well. Surprisingly low recoil for a +P in an alloy revolver, too. I shot some alongside the older 125gr. Gold Dot +P loads, and the 135gr. load was faster and seemed to recoil less. How do dey do dat?

In my completely unscientific water jug tests, this round expands nicely and penetrates into the third one gallon jug out of my 640. Very accurate too.

That's my primary carry round as well. Always in my 442, and usually in my 640-1 (sometimes I load it a little warmer). Tough to beat.

This is generally considered to be one of the best rounds on the market right now for self defense. I would carry it without hesitation.

Not especially accurate in my LCR. The Golden Saber 125 +P shoots straighter.
