Anyone carrying a small auto in the front pocket without a holster?

When I walk my dog in my neighborhood I usually drop a LCP in my pocket with an extra magazine. But it's in a Remora holster.

At times I do this with the LCP (when it's really hot outside). However, only when I wear Duluth cargo pants. The right front pocket has an inside pocket at the bottom which holds it perfectly. It seems made just for the dimensions of the LCP (which it isn't, obviously). And, no, you can't see an imprint, at all...

None of the reasons he cites against pocket carry hold water. You might have a string in your pocket that could get wrapped around the trigger? It could fall out and go off? The gun could move around and flick the safety off?
I don't see any of these problems applying to my S&W 638.
Looks like the author is just another schmuck with an opinion and a computer to type it on.
I feel that pocket carry gives me more security than any kind of holster carry - because it is in closer contact with my body and I can feel it. I can't feel the gun if its in a leather or kydex holster.

Been carrying an LCP in my back pocket.

Less bulk without a holster.. I like it.

I am not attracted to the prospect of back pocket carry because of:
1. The possibility of someone sneaking up behind you, unseen, and making a grab for it.
2. The possibility of sitting on it.

I have carried both a beretta 21a bobcat (hammer down) or a 638 in my front pocket for many years. Never a problem. With and without a pocket holster. Gun does print more without a holster, yes. But most times when I'm leaving the house for a quick errand I'm not concerned about printing, just slide the gun in my pocket and go. Sometimes with the j frame, Without the holster it can turn sideways in the pocket which does make a smooth draw problematic. Unsafe? AD? No, the trigger doesn't pull itself people.

Shirt is always untucked, covers pocket opening.(I don't let people sneak up on me.)

Sit on it all the time, sitting on it right now.Feels like a wallet.

Guess I look at it differently.

I've carried a keltec p32 in my front pocket with no holster for ten years. Simple fact of the matter is if you put a gun in your pocket with nothing else, the pocket is now a holster, congratulations. This is only an issue if you wear pants that don't fit. Seriously, what kind of cloths are y'all wearing that y'all guns can do acrobatics in yalls pockets? I'm getting this picture in my head of a young man, with no belt, showing his underwear off to everyone. Maybe that guys clothes are too big, is this how y'all are dressing? Geez...

Nope, but an uncovered trigger can be pulled, that's kind of exactly one of the main purposes of a holster.

It's actually safer, as well as easier, to draw a semi automatic pistol from a pocket holster such as the Desantis Nemesis, than it is to draw directly from your pocket.

No snag and less drag, and enclosing the trigger in a holster is always a good idea for safety.

Holsters like the Nemesis are dirt cheap and work great.

Generally speaking, yes. Currently have my Sig P290RS in my pocket without a holster. With the size of the gun and the cut of the pocket on this particular pair of shorts, the gun stays upright and in position. Prints more than it would with a pocket holster, but from an accessibility and draw viewpoint, the holster offers no advantage with this pair of shorts.

A lady I know, who shall remain nameless, carries a RM380 holsterless in the front pocket of her jeans. Position shift, lint accumulation and corrosion of the slide stop from sweat (or whatever it is women do) were all problems. From time to time I confiscate it to clean, lube and replace ammo. She has a selection of quality pocket holsters available to her, but refuses to use them. I am not too concerned about ADs with the long heavy DA pull, but the position shift sets my teeth on edge.

I have pocket carried an RM380, a Bersa Thunder, a 642, a Shield and a HS Derringer, always in holsters. In another century I carried a 2" Colt Lawman in a dedicated, zippered pocket of my uniform jacket. Not ideal and I didn't do it long although if I was in the same situation tomorrow I wouldn't hesitate to do so with the 642.
