Anyone conceal a 686+ IWB or even OWB regularly?

Jimmy

I too carry a 686 plus 2 1/2. Had it magnaport very nice weapon. I use a Milt Spark IWB holster in horse hide for carry.

When I shoot IDPA use a Fobus paddle holster.

Usally have a speed loader either front pocket and a folder kife in rear

I got my new holster in the mail from simplyrugged in wasilla alaska this week. I have had the chance to take my wife out to dinner and a movie while wearing this rig with my 4 inch 686 plus. I wore it IWB and found it to be very comfortable, giving me a gentle hug all evening. I do notice the weight of the gun a bit more, and had to adjust my pants a couple of times, but not any more than any other guy with a bit of a gut and no butt. My other carry rig is a desantis cozy partner and a pt111 taurus. Even tho its a bigger gun, in the pancake, the smithy is more comfy to me. I have total confidence in my revolver and feel well armed with it on.

One of my most favorite guns to carry is my M66-2.5" in a Galco Speed Master OWB. it conceals very well, and I ain'y no slim guy.

I carry a 4in 686 in a Galco miami classic verticle shoulder rig with double speedloader pouches on the opposite side. This is my primary carry rig, however i also use a Fobus paddle holster for the same gun when i am not going to be driving or sitting for long periods of time.

ok here is my visual aid and don't laugh about my shirt.

Well, my real world also happens to include both 5" 1911s and N frames with 4" tubes; both get carried regularly iwb either "Mexican" or in a Milt Sparks SS-2.

Regards,
Bob

Hi, to another Jimmy:
I carry a Model 681 in a "Pan Cake" at 3-4 O'Clock position. I use a "J" frame IWB or "Pocket Carry". I am like you in that I feel secure with a "K/L" frame 4" .357 mag. I am going to try a "Fobus" paddle holster for the Model 681.
If you are like me you will end up with a box of holsters.
Welcome Aboard.
Jimmy

My primary sidearm is a 696. I carry it in a custom OWB holster. The bulk and the weight do not let me forget that it is there, but under a jacket, nobody else knows it is there. It is not uncomfortable.

The name of the man who made the holster was Guilardi, or something very similar. He was in Campbell, California, and unfortunately he has retired.

I carry a 4" 686 in a Milt Sparks AW200 OWB holster. It's very comfortable and has a hammer guard that prevents snagging as well as wearing out the lining of your jacket. It was originally designed by Elmer Keith years ago but works very well. The AW200 is not as concealable as a pancake so in summer months I switch to a DeSantis pancake which rides closer to the body.

I like Milt Sparks belts but a Beltman belt is just as good and easier to acquire.

I have a S&W 686 Plus 3 inch BBL- Stainless Steel 357 Mag. I have tried 3 different pancake holsters (OWB) to some degree of success for concealment, depending on the clothes Im wearing. About a month ago I saw an article in American Handgunner 2009 Special Edition, Featuring a New CHEST HOLSTER SYSTEM BY SURVIVAL SYSTEMS. It it now the only holster I use full time. Reasons:

1.Easy as a T shirt to put on
2.sits right in the middle of my chest (covering the the sternum)
3.Notice very little weight because of the harness
4.Does;t interfere with driving, seatbelts, armrests etc
5.virtually unnoticeable under a loose shirt, jacket etc. I wear alot of fleece pullovers (like in the article)
6.I wear it BUTT Down Position.( Just pull the shirt up & Draw)
7.Best concealment of any holster I have ever used .
8.Very comfortable
9.No wonder the TUNNEL RATS in Vietnam used a rig similar to this. They could get to the gun from any position.

586+ L-Comp in either a Bianchi or Don Hume OWB. Don't really care for revolvers iwb, although my 342 Ti disappears in a High Noon iwb.

Srigs- thats a purty holster. Whats that inset made from? Crock-a dillo? lizard? Washington liberal? I want one!

My favorite revolver is my 686 2 1/2". I don't carry it though. I am a small man and I would have to wear some pretty funny clothes to hide it. I could, but I choose not to wear heavy or what I consider inappropriate clothing in my environment (older guy with most friends quiet "church folks") That doesn't mean it can't be done, just that I choose not to. I end up with J-Frame or K-Frame (M&P) at best. Shame, I really do love that gun!

I also use a DeSantis pancake for carrying my 686 4". very comfortable and stays close to my body.

I like the Simply rugged sourdough pancake for the 686 snubby.
