Anyone else apprehensive?

Kid44, I wasn't afraid of crowds until you just brought it up.
Just kidding ...:)
No, I haven't changed my behavior.

Anyone else apprehensive about being in large public, or private gatherings? I used to go out in public and not give it a second thought. Now I am not very comfortable in large public places with a lot of people. Don't get me wrong, I still go but seem to watch everyone much closer now, how they are acting and what they are doing. With so many mass shootings, beatings, car jackings etc. it just flat out scares me, mostly for my family. Used to carry sometimes and some places, now it always and everywhere. Should something breakout I'm heading for cover like everyone else but won't go down without a fight.
....no, I'm not apprehensive ...when your time comes, it comes and then your dead.....
....be aware, think ahead, secure your home, etc

I'm with you. I wouldn't say I'm apprehensive, but carry all the time and in large crowds I've become much more attentive and alert. Too much bad ju-ju out there these days.

Small Town Americ

At least my part of small town America is still pretty good! We don't really have any violence to speak of. Oh there have been a couple of drug related shootings over the years but that's it. When I was a young man in 1980 two guys were attempting to rob me when I was making my night deposit at the bank for the restaurant that I worked for. After that I carried pretty much all the time for 20+ years. These days not so much because like I say my small town is pretty chilled out. Sadly my state is going full tilt to take away our guns so the thugs can get bold here knowing there will not be any consequences too poor behavior.

...the US had a very small military force, manufacturing not ready to manufacture weapons and supplies needed for a war, the Pacific Fleet, airfields, etc in tatters..the Germans victorious all over Europe, etc
--at the start of the greatest war ever--yet FDR said:
'''''The only thing we have to fear is Fear itself ''''

I carry all day every day and have for almost 49 years now. As many have said before I am constantly aware of what's around me whether in a crowd or out for a walk as old habits seem to be ingrained just like sitting with my back to the wall with a view of the front door in any eating establishment I may be in.

The only crowd I don't mind is at a baseball stadium w/a beer & a dog.

Since the black death I found that I don't need to go into the public places nearly as much as I used to. Suits me just fine. I go when I need to and pay attention to people around me. Shopping and dinner occasionally and that's about it.

Mostly people have no sense of common courtesy any more in public which just makes it that much easier to avoid crowded places.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Never could develop the switch to turn off the awareness or the ability to keep an eye on several hundred or thousand people at once. Becoming antisocial is part of the price I paid for protecting the social from society. And I don't regret it.

That is the way the leftist want you to feel .
Afraid of each other , paranoid ...freightened and distrustfull of each other .
Sheep are easier to control than lion's ... and trust me control is what's it's all about .
Don't fall for it ... we are Americans , one and all , reguardless of skin color .
The leftist are evil ... have no fear , love your brother for together we can stand and overcome the evil ones .
My Dad had seen a lot during WWII ...man's worst inhumanities to other men ... and he told me " Never follow any group who wishes to disarm you . Armed men can stand and fight for their freedom ... unarmed men can be treated as cattle . "

I don't carry when around local area. Got same chance getting hit with space junk as involved in any crime. I don't have permit. Just a few weeks ago Ohio is right to carry state.
I've always watched where I go, which is 50% of avoiding trouble. When I had to go where there was credible threats I had a gun. Some have to live and work in high crime areas. I don't blame them for being paranoid. Some areas it's not a question of "if", it's a question of when.

Consider yourself lucky. In more rural areas I'd probably carry less often too. In or around urban areas is a different story. Even in "nice" areas.

I don't get frightened by news stories about violent crime. Remember the old saw that if it bleeds, it leads.

Back in the day, we had 4 channels. Each offered 1/2 hour of news. Now there are at least 3 channels that offer 24 hours of news daily. That's a lot of news programming for each day. And a lot of need for stories to draw a crowd.

Interestingly, the crime rate has been going down for the past years. You would think that the crime rates are skyrocketing if you get your information from one of the 24 hours news channels.
