That was domino's pizza. I have never, nor will I ever eat at their establishments.
Just cook at home, or go to a grocery store and buy a loaf of bread, some deli meat and cheese. It's cheaper, cleaner and you know what you get.
I got "fed up" at Subway twice last week while we were on the road. I don't eat there often, but I usually enjoy it when I do. I almost always go for the tuna, unless it looks old and gray (like me). Years ago, I lived near a Subway and the girl that worked there would give me four heaping scoops, instead of four level scoops. I think she wanted me! 
My typical Subway order;
"Hi!"
"I'd like a foot long on cheese bread, add provolone and please toast it with just the cheese on the bun."
[thought bubble] What's up with the nose ring, Angus?"
"Tuna."
[thought bubble] Enough with the pat, pat, pat... Don't play with my tuna spread so much. Just plop the four leveled scoops on the bun and lets move along. Your not laying tile and it doesn't have to be perfect. I don't care what the name tag says, you're not really an artist.
"Lettuce, tomato, pickles, black olives, onion, just a few jalapenos, salt/pepper and a bead of mayo."
[important strategy] Tell them your choice of toppings one at a time and wait for them to put that topping on before you select the next one. Don’t confuse them.
"That's perfect! Could you please wrap the halves separately, so I can eat it while I drive. You really are an artist!"
"No chips, no pop, but may I have a few extra napkins please? Thank You Very Much. Buh-bye!"

Subways and Dunkin Donuts around here are totally under control of Indians. They are shrewd bussiness people that could make twenty shandwiches out of a 1/2 pound of salomi. I used to eat there but no more as they count every slice, and condiments are usually the carriers of the better known food poisoning. Their stuff looks suspicious to me.

Any one I've been to around here have been good. I don't feel ripped off in the portions I get.

I guess I'll share a subway story in this thread.
I occasionally eat at the local subway and I have never seen any sort of store manager or franchise owner in the store. Frequent turnover in staff, and some of them are not much concerned with customer service.
One day I walk in there and they are fairly busy with a small line of customers waiting, but there is only one young man working. The young man was about 17ish I'd guess. As I get closer to the start of the sandwich making process I glean that earlier in the day this young mans two co-workers just up and quit just before the lunch rush, leaving him there to fend for himself. He had tried to call the 'manager' for help but was told no help was available.
He was clearly very stressed but he did his best and apologized profusely to all of us in line. Remember, he is doing the whole process from start of the sandwich to ringing up the orders at the till. All the customers understood and could see that the kid was busting his butt, except for one customer...
There always has to be that one guy it seems. I'll call him Mr. self-important for lack of better pc term. He had the bluetooth ear thingy (but not on a call) and was reading a handful of papers in between his angry scowl at the kid and his smart Alec under the breath comments about the situation.
When he got to the point where his sandwich was to be made he acted like it was a huge inconvience each time the kid asked what he wanted on the sandwhich. He was very rude to the kid through the whole process. When the sandwich was complete and the young man was ringing up the order, Mr. self-important turns around and walks out of the store leaving his completed sandwich on the counter.
Meanwhile, a mother and daughter were eating their lunch at one of the tables and the daughter was seated such that she could see the whole thing going down. I'm guessing she was probably 22 years old or so. The minute the door closed behind Mr. self-important, she got up and went over to the soda machine, grabbed a cup, went up the counter, put $10 in it and shoved it across the counter to the kid and told him to forget that clown and that he was doing a great job. The rest of us in line followed suit with tips in the cup.
He could have just as easily walked out that day like his 'co-workers', especially when told there was no additional help coming, but he did not quit. This kind of behavior gives one hope for our countries young folks.

About 8 years ago I had a friend lost 50lbs on the subway I do not understand how he could eat subways for two meals a day.
Around that time i thought I would try a Subway the kid making the sandwich was not wearing gloves I assumed (hoped) he had washed his hands. Half way through making my sandwich someone asked him for keys to the bathroom he took them off a hook handed to the girl and went right back to making my sandwich, I have not gone back since.

I've got three Subways near me. Right now they are doing a $5.00 twelve inch sandwich special.
Personally, I find it to be a very good value. I see many here complaining that they are not like the sandwiches from their favorite deli....but hey! This ain't your typical deli...it's Subway!, for crying out loud!

As an over the road long distance trucker, I have dined at numerous different Subways, some great, some fair, and yes, some downright sorry. This is not the company's fault, as all are franchize owned and operated, again, some great operators, and others not so great. Normally, they are worth the rather modest cost, but recently I have been exposed to FireHouse Subs, and if you ever can find one, give it a try, as you will throw rocks at Subway from now on. A little more money, but about half again more meat, so unless you are a vegitarian, check out Firehouse Subs. My personal favorite is the Philly cheese steak one, at $7.49 for a full 12 inch meal for two.

Firehouse Subs is good. We have Larry's Giant Subs, very good. They also feature monthly soup specials by the 'soup nazi'.

I'd love to hire this kid to work in my restaurant, starting today. The hardest thing about running a restaurant, or any business, is finding competent, hard-working people. Kids like this and the 22-year old you mentioned deserve every benefit they earn.
As for Subway, as the owner of an independent restaurant, I don't eat at franchises. If you want your burger a certain way, we do it. If you want to exchange salad for slaw, no problem. Support your local mom n pops, or all you will have is McSubway's and Olive Lobsters.

Jack-In-The-Box also makes a Canadian Bacon Breakfast sandwich with it so thin you can see through it.
I give anyone one chance to get it the first time. There's enough food establishments out there that do.

I have to go lie down now and take a double dose of my meds...as I am in complete agreement with Gutpile Charlie. (LMAO!) I love the complaints about too much lettuce. HELLO, just tell them to go light on the lettuce or whatever it is you want less/more of. At Subway you can have the sandwich anyway you want. If you want more meat, pay for it and quit your bitchin. Their prices are posted in large colorful letters on the wall for Pete's sake. I will happily, and frankly prefer, to patronize mom and pop shops, there just don't happen to be any nearby. Frankly I can make a better sub at home but usually am just too damned lazy to do it. (o;

One of my first jobs was at a place called Riccotti's. Folks in Rhode Island will know what I'm talking about. Anyways, Riccotti's specialty was a 36 inch grinder and even then, meat slices were apportioned by company specifications, as was cheese. Now the veggies were another story and we could pile on as much as the customer wanted.
Subway doesn't come close, in fact they fall about 2 feet short
Of course back in those days, the grinder was a family meal and not meant for one person. Though I'm sure a few of our customers were eating it solo.
If the Riccotti's is still open at Hoxie 4 Corners, why don't one of you folks back in little Rhodey go on in and get a 36" with "the works" for me. Just dont piss off the counter person or they will make sure to get the hot pepper relish from the bottom of the pan.
Subway is good though, the standard slices of meat and cheese and then have them keep adding the veggies till the sub wont hold any more.

My wife and I tried a waffle House in Tucson. We had passed it numerous times going to the airport and What the heck. Her Sister in Calif has raved about the one there.
We both agreed the service was great, to bad the food wasn't.
Our first and last visit.
