I know the big N-frames get all the glitter like the 27s, but does anyone else like this model as a first weapon?
After getting mine and shooting it I think it's the finest conceal carry gun Smith has ever conceived. It has the right power, balance, weight, full extraction, durability, concealablity, carryability of any Smith I have handled. Anyone else agree?
Now all I need is the proper holster (carried it in a 4" one a few days) and grips for it.

i prefer the 64 because i only carry +p. But the 3" have been great this winter. i carry in a shoulder rig, works great! i use banana grips on one and laser on another. 64s go for around 320-350 how much was that beauty? I want a 67 2" maybe santa!

I had a 50-50 chance and managed to post to the one you deleted! Let's try again.

The 3" Model 65-3 is definitely cool. Someone took a polishing compound to this one . . . turned out looking like nickel if that appeals to you.

Try the Hogue Bantams . . . they make shooting a real pleasure.

$400 OTD from a local pawnshop. :) :)
My 67 4" is my house gun.

Russ, I think yours looks great.
I may look into those Hogue bantams for shooting, but I was also think of possibly some faux ivories would look nice for carry.:D

You'll have to settle for a 2" model 64 or 15 as S&W never produced a 2" 67 that I'm aware of.

Seems to be a bunch of 3" 65s showing up on the internet (GA,GB) the last few days.
Like to see a 67-4 with the RB, make a nice companion to my above 65

My 65 with Hogue Kingwood Bantams. Best carry platform for concealed ever built. K frame action, full length ejection and 357. Mine is filled with 145 WW Silvertips.

Russ, I took your suggestion and whipped by my local pusher and he had the Bantams N.O.S. 50% off for $11.00. They fit great.............thanks.:)

Bronco45, mine is already loaded with the Winchester 145gr Silvertips. I think they are just right for this gun.

My 3" 65-3 has a prominent spot in my modest collection. It is shown with Ahrends Tacticals. I carry it in a Mernickle holster. Really is a perfect revolver.

3" 65 is on my dream list. (ideally if it could be found with a shrouded rod)

It would be my "if you could only have one handgun" choice.

I'll play!

I usually load my own 38's loaded to the original +P standard (maybe a skosh hotter).

Here's another 65-5 that gets some holster time. It really is a good balance between power and portability. I also like the RB targets this one wears. My 13-3 is similarly "gripped". I found this one used several years ago and suspect it had some work done on it as the trigger is smooth as all-get-out.

I just noticed from our pictures, most have the flash hard chromed hammer/trigger and some have case hardened hammer/trigger. Hmmm, I wonder why the difference. Probably not inportant as Smith always used whatever was handy.

Diamonback, I got a 65-3, 3" a few weeks ago on Gun Broker for $341, of course shipping, and F.F.L. had to be added. There are many beaters on there, but mine was not 1 of those. Had Pach Compacs on it. Now sports Eagle round butt targets. Looking for combats for it also. My wife shot it, and did not want to go back to her normal gun. I (we) really like it. Shoot it with reloads 3gr. Clays, 158 LSWC bullets. (.38's) Very mild recoil. Bob

Just bought a Model 64 HB 4 inch like new with box, papers, cleaning rod etc. for $350.00 plus tax (7%). Original owner said he bought it in the 1970's and fired one box through it. Serial number is 1D630x, anyone know what year in the 1970's it was manufactured?
Also have a Model 65 4 inch HB which is also my "if I could only have one gun."

I have been looking for one for some time now I just never seem to find one at a good price, I did buy a nice 36-1 3" I still would like the 65 to be able to shoot magnums and 6 shots

Revolver 65, I was looking for 66's and bought a 67 no dash. Looking for 66's, and bought a 10-8. Looking for 66's, and bought a 65-3, 3".
Now, I am seeing nice 66's available! ( I am looking at a 28 though )
The moral of the story, is your 65 will come along! Mine is clean, and was bought right. Bob

My 65 has a very nice DA trigger and if I do my part it will shoot out the x-ring at self defense ranges. The Model 64 that's also pictured is an excellent shooter too...

I have always wondered why Smith never made the 65 in 2". I know it wouldn't have full ejection, but it would have made a great hideout gun especially in the Lady Smith for purse carry.:)
