They look more like CocoBolo (aka Rosewood) to me. Very nice, whatever they are.

Coco-Bolo is not exactly the same as Rosewood, though they are both members of the same family.

They are called Bookends. See how the grain matches on the bottom. When they cut select slabs, a worker would put the fine grain pieces aside. The were used for engraved, or presentation guns. You have a very nice pair.

Symmetry + Goncalo Alves = Pretty Butts

They are called smooth presentation grips. I have them on my 5"s 27-2 and 29-2. On the 27 I sent the gun back to smith right after I bought it new and my name engraved on it with all the options in nthe early 1970s. Then I bought the other pair later from jack first when he was a smith dealer. Also have a 544 texas wagon trail commemorative with them.

They don't appear to be rosewood, to me, and I've had several pairs over the years. Those appear to be colored like all the Goncalo Alves that I've seen.
