They’re for sale. I’m kinda curious because I’ve never really seen any 3rd gen grips except for Hogues, KSDs and the stock delrins. Never heard of the brand. No idea what they’d look like on the gun.

Yes, I would pass also. I owned a pair of them when I owned a couple of 5906 pistols and I didn't care for them. The side panels were thin and flat and not real solid on the pistol. I also owned some rubber Hogues and also a pair of wood Hogues. I ultimately went back to the stock grips, they were very durable and not overly thick.

Here is a picture of these grips installed on a 4006 Limited:

Good: the rubber has nice grippiness, something that I believe has always been lacking in the OEM delrin grips. They also seem of very solid construction to me, I have found nothing like was said above about the side panels.

Maybe: they do seem to favor larger hands… if you don’t like a handful, you may not care for these.

Cons: I think they are pretty homely. They are also difficult to find.

I bought the same type grips off ebay few years ago for my 5906 and they didn't fit. Too much rubber on the bottom and pin wouldn't go through

That thread also mentions “Farrar” grips. Hmm..
Here is a picture of my PPC-9 wearing the Farrar grip:

This picture is a little over exposed but it shows the grip off well! ;)

Good: I really like the way this grip looks. Someone with more skill than myself could maybe figure out a way to fill that blank emblem with the classic S&W logo? I also love how thin this rubber is, and it is also nicely tacky and grabby. The quality of the rubber is also apparent, they designed these very well. Great product.

Maybe: You end up with what mostly seems to be the arched grip and I prefer the straight back, though it still works for me. Also, it seems these were available in two styles… the pictured one has an open front so you get the original machine checkering. Other versions have a rubber front that I like less.

Con: these are almost vapor ware, very hard to find and usually not low in price. I do happen to have an extra set that I’m not using, they have the full wrap around rubber that I like less than this set show in the picture.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the input.

I have the stock arched backstrap grip on my 5906, currently. Was planning to grab a straight-backed unit and saw these... just kinda piqued my curiosity.

But, I think just going for straight grips makes the most sense. I don't dislike the arched-back grips, per se... just thinking the straight ones might help the trigger reach some.

Thanks again.

While I have the Farrar grips on my PC DPA gun. intended as a "Game gun" ..... all my other full size double stack Smith 9mms have the straight grips. 5906 and 915s..... to me gives them a Browning HP feel.

The Farrar grips are great but even when they were in business they were hard to find. Rubber grips are not the best for concealed carry IMO.

Guys, which of these grips have the smallest circumference do you think? My used 5903 just arrived and I love the look of the Hogues that it came with. But, man they are fat, at least in my hand. Thank you, I really appreciate this thread!
Dave

BamBam or Sevens, can the front strap rubber be cut off a set of Farrar's and still work? Just wondering......

And, is it possible to measure that silver disk?

Thank you!!

FWIW, Farrar grips for the 59xx series were available with either a flat or curved backstrap, but they can be difficult to find.
