I want to load and shoot em. Also who's the shipper?

I figure a sedate load would be about 6.5gr of Herco.
enough to expand but mild enough your teeth don't
rattle.

I already had some 180 XTP's and I loaded them in front of 31.5gr of H-110. I'll be careful not to start a grass fire but at the same time it should cook any viruses lingering in the air..

If not having shot 180 grainers before, consider the considerable drop in POI with milder loads at 25 yds. Some older pistols may not have enough elevation adjustment for POA to equal POI.

I got Hornadys volume 2 out and looked at the ballistics tables.
I'm going to have to play with this.

Fun Flyer, thanks for the time line.

When I ordered mine on 4-1, it said there would be a second email to follow with a tracking #, I've yet to see that.

On a side note, I love those 180g XTP...if Hornady has indeed discontinued them, I'm going to be mighty bummed about it.

I've played with them a lot, here's the data I have form my 7.5" Super Redhawk (typical disclaimer...this is MY data, use at your own risk):

31.5g H110, loud, sharp report and recoil. Chrono was an average of 1819 fps. (Win mag LP primers)

26g 2400, more of a thump kind of recoil and a "ka-boom" report, accurate. Chrono ave 1675 fps. (CCI std LP primers)

Personally, I like them loaded over 25g of 2400. They are a seriously powerful round and will definitely turn heads at the range. I've found them to be very accurate as well.

Thanks everybody for your help.
What I'm after here is a round
that runs about 1100fps+/-.

Use will be shooting things that
need shooting out to about 100yds.

I "think" they will end up in the
629-3 4".

Last time out, I loaded some 180's with 30gn's of H110 for my 4" Tracker and a friend's Super Redhawk. Firing the Tracker felt like what I'd imagine a Nolan Ryan fast ball would feel like without a mitt. However, the 7.5" RH was a pleasure to shoot and felt like a 9mm by comparison. The average velocity from the Redhawk was 1776fps, we both got a patriotic kick over that one.

Man, buyer's remorse here. I should have ordered a HECKUVA LOT MORE OF THESE! :D

I ordered on 3-30 and just now received my tracking info. Seeing as I am still at the rig working, it's no big deal about the delayed shipping. With the way things are right now with the Covid 19 situation, slower shipping is kind of to be expected I think.

As to those bullets themselves, I have shot them in the past and liked them. Loaded up with a healthy dose of H110, A #9, 2400 or Blue Dot, they are a fun round to shoot. BTW, IIRC they prefer higher velocities to expand than a bullet like the Speer Gold Dot SB variety. They are a quality bullet and accurate too.

I ordered 15 box's on 3/31, just got my tracking # from UPS at 5:35 PM today. going to use them in my 624 3". Have not made up my mind on a load yet. May try a couple of powders and loads, but finding what works best is half the fun.

My dad couldn't wait to get on the quarter boats aka psv's and
come home when we lived between Houma and Thibodaux. Oil
field trash for sure.

And I got tracking for the first order this afternoon.

I think I'm lucky in that I am on a land rig this time and have a trailer house to myself. Less chance of the Covid 19 mess for me that way. I think I would think twice about working on a rig offshore right now though, as quarters are too close with everyone else out on the rig.

One of the clients my company does work for offshore just pulled the plug and shut down on drilling until after the hurricane season, partially because of the Covid 19 and partially because of low oil prices.

My son who is still in the business says for me to watch independents in
the Permian die on the vine. Going to be happening soon.
