Anyone have a 432?

As a Senior Citizen with Arthritis I manage the .38 Special well now. But I thought about having a .32 for in the future. (or that S&W 43C in .22 LR)

At $759 for a new one I am keeping my eye open for a Certified Pre Owned or a used S&W or Colt Detective Special (my first pick)

Looking forward to your Range Report.
FWIW, my father is in his mid 70s, and he got a 632. If you can put 5 rounds of .38 Special on target quickly, you can probably do 6 shots even more quickly with .32 H&R Magnum. I felt like 100gr was like mild 38 Special, and the 85gr was even milder.

Yes, I own a 432UC but have never shot it. Why not, you ask? Because the Smith and Wesson QC department is staffed by a lunch of idiots, and shipped me a gun that had rust on it and numerous scratches. I sent it back to S&W three weeks ago and was told I'll be waiting 6-8 weeks.
My father got his 632 back in 3 weeks with a new yoke and night sight, but my 642 took 6 weeks for the same earlier in the year.

I don't think the Ultimate Carry line of J frames qualifies for the rebate.

It didn't earlier in the year, but it does now.

When I purchased my 432UC & my 632UC last summer, the rebates did not apply. I scanned the SKU list 3 times and mine weren't there.

I sent S&W an email earlier this week and asked the question about the 432UC. They replied that it did qualify for the rebate. I decided that I really did not need the gun since I have a 631 Ladysmith that I have never fired.

Buffalo Bore has a 32 H&R Mag load with a 100g bullet that looks like an XTP, whose muzzle energy slightly exceeds that of the 38 Special Remington 158g LSWCHP +P round that supposedly matches the legendary "FBI Load". (My chrono, same day, same setup, with comparable 2" J frames.) Physics being what it is, the 32 kicks just as much as a 38 with these two loads, but you get an extra shot with the 32. And you can get milder H&R loads if you are recoil sensitive, or just want to have some lower intensity fun.

Good to know, thanks.

Went to 4 different stores today on the hunt for a 632UC or 432UC, all of which are Lipseys dealers. Not one in stock. That's not to say these things are flying off the shelves. Apparently no one stocks them locally.

So I may as well order the cheapest one I can find off gundeals and take a chance I don't get stuck with a lemon assembled by a team of monkeys. Tempers my interest to say the least, even with a $50 rebate.

FWIW, I just picked up a 442UC from Good 4 Guns for $649 shipped. It took them a week to ship, but unlike my early 642UC, it arrived with a functional night sight and yoke that opens and closes properly. Trigger on it is a bit smoother than my 642UC was out of the box; I squirted some CLP in it, and the 442UC is within 0.1 lbs of my 642UC which has a lot more trigger pulls on it.

I looked hard on getting a 632UC … hoping the QC problems are lessened..
Then “ Boom “ Ruger rolls out with a LCR 32 H&R ! 13.5 oz

Yes, but as far as I know there aren't any sight options that will shoot point of aim, other than the factory white post. All the sights for the .38/.357 models are too tall and will shoot low. Plus, I ain't buying a bronze gun.

XS makes a photoluminescent sight for the .22/.327/9mm LCR models.

I'm not aware of any tritium sights; XS said that there's not enough room for the tritium vials in the lower .22/.327/9mm sights.

Good to know. Better option than the factory white post I would say.

I went for it. Solid little 6-shooter, good lockup and timing. Trigger is heavy, but it’ll smooth out. Hopefully I can get it to the range soon!

FWIW, my 642UC and my father's 632UC (both early examples) were pretty dry inside when we got them. Applying oil may help smooth things out.

Love mine

Has become my EDC. Fits all my J frame holsters no problem.

I slapped my Pachmayr Compacs on it and shot some .32 Long and .32 H&R. It shot to point of aim and was comfortable. I can’t ask for much more!

I also lubed it a little and dry fired about 500 times, which smoothed the trigger a little.

I've shot a bunch of rounds through it so far, and it's a great little shooter. I had a bunch of .32 H&R reloads, but I had seated some of the primers too deep and they didn't want to go bang, but otherwise it functions as it should. Score one for S&W.

How in the world did you seat SPPs too deeply? You must have really crushed them. On a positive note, I find my 32 S&W Longs and 32 H&Rs to be among the easiest (not to mention cheapest) cartridges to reload. The primer cost is sorta fixed for all pistol cartridges, but those tiny amounts of powder and lead make my supplies go a long way! And those little straight wall cases go a looooong way! :)
I'm loading mainly for my 631 and old 32 HE these days, but I have a lot of hungry 32 mouths to feed!

Froggie
