I have a 19-5 that needs a new hammer and trigger installed, a basic tune up and a refinish and am considering sending it back to the factory if they'll take it.

How is the factory re-blue these days?

I had my 15-2 done recently, along with Master Revolver Action pkg, Polish&Blue. They recommended a new cylinder. Done
Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say, but I think their polish & blue is outstanding. Just one shooters opinion. Took awhile to get it back, about 2 months from start to finish. And the cost was more than I paid for the piece. Now have just under a grand in this .38 Combat Masterpiece. But I'm more than satisfied.....so much so, I sent them my CB Master .22 for the Master Revolver Action pkg. It does not need the polish and Blue. The .22 arrived there on 3/25, so far not a word from S&W. I figure at least 2 months to get through there system and back to me......
Good Luck

I was talking with S&W today and was told that they are running at 12 week turnaround. Of course, I don't know how accurate that is.

Ya know you really shouldn't dangle your opinion without some pics for us to verify. ;)

Re-bluing

I had a model 19 re-blued at S&W about two years ago. I was pleased with work. Since the bluing process has changed, the color is more blackish-blue rather than the old blue. However, I think it turned out great.

Attached is a pic of my 19 with a matching 66.

Beautiful!

I sent S&W a model 19-2 snubby that had been used as a boat gun by a kid in Texas. It had been allowed to rust and the light pitting on the frame was bad to see, but the barrel was toast, with heavy rust and a missing red ramp. Luckily, I had a NIW snub barrel to send to Smith with the gun, because they didn't have a spare. They returned the M19 with a matte finish at my request, an action job, Gold Bead front sight and chamfered cylinder. It turned out beautifully. If I had desired a high-polish blue similar to my old Python, I would have sent the gun to Barron Technology for a polish and luster blue finish. They performed a 1911 redo for me that matches the Python's finish and recut the rollmarks as well. They are top notch and will provide a quote up front. With S&W, you just need to be aware that the factory closes for I think a month or so in the summer for vacation. The factory rep can let you know the dates. Don't send your gun until after then:rolleyes:

FORDS ..... excellent work good price 3 month to get the weapon back, good customer relations.

Yea, well at 80 years young, I do not have a camera that would do justice to the re-blue fluff and buff by SAW. No sense wasting time or space if the pix are not 1st class.

Regarding the K22 I sent to SAW for Revolver Package, and a "push offf" fault, I got the piece back on Wednesday last without
warning, just a email from FEDEX to expect the package. I knew something was wrong when I never got a "Quotation of Work" from SAW. Package arrived with note inside the case, " ACTION WORK N/A FOR THIS MODEL", followed by, "OBS MAM" ?????
So this is a K22, CB , K8877xx., Mod 18-3 Nothing about the failed "Push off"...just sent it back??? No call, no letter, no email!!.
So, I decided to dive into my first SAW Revolver. So far, so good. More later. R
