Anyone have a CZ 82

I have wanted one for quite a while. If I have anything that looks like a collection, it would be my small array of CZs: vz.50, vz.52, and CZ75BD. A CZ82 would fit in there nicely. It is also a gun I think I would carry.

A few years ago, my local GM had a used one in their case priced at $240. At the time, I thought it was too much, but I have been kicking myself ever since. People keep talking about $200 CZ82s, but I haven't yet seen one for less than about $270, more often well over $300, and the one I saw in the case at GM was the last one I have seen in the flesh.

There are some fans of the CZ 82 on here, though; they will probably show up soon.

I haven't looked in a while, but I picked up a couple when CDNN had them for $220. Glad I did. I have a friend who parkerized his and added custom wood grips and they look fantastic.

I have a P64 that I have carried on occasions. Paid under $175 for that 9X18.

I trust both as far as reliability and yes they are getting hard to find cheap.

Yes, I have a couple CZ82s, and they're great pistols. Not tiny, but decent sized, just slightly bigger (thicker) than the Makarov.

I'm really quite a fan of pistols chambered in 9x18mm Makarov. My favorites are the Makarov, followed closely by the CZ82, and then the P64 and PA-63.

Can a CZ83 owner get in on this thread?
Other than the trigger guard there is little difference between the 82 and 83 with one exception. The 82 IIRC has polygonal rifling and the 83 has conventional rifling. Last I heard CZ USA has discontinued the 83.
My 83 will easily knock down 8" steel plates at 30 yards which I consider pretty decent for a pocket pistol. I've heard the 82s are on a par with the 83s in that respect. I'd like to have a 82 to go with my 83.

I wanted one for awhile and could never find them except on gun broker for a higher price than I wanted to pay. One day I stopped in a local hole in the wall pawn shop and they had one. I bought it and it came with only one mag, but over 100 rounds of 9x18 and about 25 rounds of that was Hornady hollow points. It was my second 9mm Mak gun the first being a FEG PA63, and I would like to eventually add a real Makarov of some sort as well.

I have some wood grips coming and would have installed my SP01 take off night sights if I could find where I put them.

What do the Czech issued holsters look like?

Here's the one that came with my CZ52. It looks like pigskin, pretty decent quality, although you'll have to take my word on that due to the crappy cell phone pic. From what I have seen, the quality of these holsters varies quite a bit.

I paid $6 for a Czech surplus holster that may or may not have been designed for my vz.50 but fit with a little coaxing. Similar design with a full flap, but no pouch for the spare mag, kind of flimsy, not as nice as the 52 holster.

The CZ 82 Czech surplus military pistol in 9mm makarov is an awesome quality pistol. I expect nothing but the best craftsmanship from CZ anyway. The CZ83 was discontinued recently. It came in 9mm Makarov, 32acp & 380acp. I was talking with a factory rep. I told him I wished they offered or made a 22 conversion kit or a 22lr in a cz 83. The CZ 82 is an awesome shooter. I ended up getting two one for each son.

I expected the 9mm Mak to have less bark over the 9mm luger.
But it has more power than I expected.

The CZ 82's were offered in excellent condition, very good condition and good condition. The good condition needed to be stripped and re epoxy painted. These are painted not blued.

The CZ82 is designed to be ambidextrous and so was the issue holster. Its a triangle shaped full flap holster that can be worn on either side and like most European military holsters holds the spare magazine and cleaning rod. I have had my CZ82 long enough that it was $200 delivered, with cleaning rod, holster, lanyard and spare magazine.

I like the CZ82 and until I bought a Kahr CW40 it was my fall and winter CCW pistol. The CZ also has a fully supported chamber and even though it has a polygon rifled barrel I've never had any trouble shooting cast bullets, though your mileage may vary. So maybe CZ could claim they are better built than Glocks ;D. I usually make 9x18 cases by cutting down 9x19 cases. My one complaint against the CZ82 is that like many European military pistols it likes to throw brass into the next county.

I checked on-line and it looks like the CZ 83 in .32acp was discontinued. It didn't mention the .380.
The CZ 83 has been discontinued in its entirety. I own one of each, and they are great pistols; built like tanks and very accurate.

I just asked for an owners manual for the CZ 83, and the fellow from CZ USA relayed that data to me.

Too bad the CZ83 pistol is discontinued its an awesome quality pistol equal to its CZ 82 brother.

Probably because of the gaining popularity of the plastic pistols the sales and demand of the metal pistols have fallen off.

If you see a Cz82 or Cz 83 for sale jump on it.

I wanted a Russian makarov too but the cost has soared on them over night. Then I seen the surplus Czech cz 82 in vg condition for just $189 with two mags I couldn't pass it up. After shooting it they offered the excellent condition cz 82 which was more like unissued for $199 I bought this for my other son.

My dealer had a brand new "used" never shot cz 83 where the buyer didn't like the polygonal rifling and traded it back in. I got this one in 9mm mal for $220. People just don't understand the polygonal rifling.
