I'm thinking of buying a RCBS 1500 electronic scale as an upgrade from a RCBS 502. Any opinions on the 1500?

Are you referring the the Chargemaster 1500 (scale/dispenser combo)? I have one, it is great.

I use mine for doing load development, when I want to quickly make a bunch of small batches of varying powder charges.

I enter the charge weight, set it on automatic, and start loading. I find I'm not waiting much on the dispenser. When on automatic, it starts dispensing the next charge when you put the empty pan back on the scale. While the machine is working, I am seating the bullet and crimping. When I'm ready for the next powder charge, the dispenser is usually about done.

It occasionally throws a charge that is a little off. On those, just dump it back in the hopper and do it over.

Yes, the Chargemaster 1500 Combo is the unit I'm looking at. I just wanted some user opinions before I spend $300 on one. Thanks. I guess I'll give it a try.

+1, Love mine.

It did go goofy at one point, and RCBS shipped me a new one free of charge.

I think the trick with the unit is to let it warm up. Do not use clear pan cover while weighing charges, and you must recalibrate each time you use it.

I've randomly checked dispensed charges with a 505, and the weights are always spot on.

+2.. My 1500 has been very reliable for a few years now. I never have to recalibrate, as I did with less costly scales. Every time I start it up and place the test weight on, it's right on the money. It doesn't matter what temperature it is either. Whether it's chilly or hot it works the same.
Highly recommended..

I love mine. I let it warm up for an hour or so and get great results. It really spoils you and you will never want to use a balance scale again.

Mine came in yesterday. Got from Mid-South on sale, best price I could find. I'm about to go try it out. Thanks for the recommendations.

RCBS Chargemaster

Absolutely love mine. Sold my (5) Uni-Flow powder measures and use the 1500 for all calibers. Very easy to set up and to empty for reuse with different powder. Lyman makes a similar combo scale with meter but nowhere as easy to changeover powders.
Buy the chargemaster and you won't ever look back.

I love mine and reviewed it in detail here a few years back. Don't know if that's before the new cut-off point where so many threads disappeared.
