I just ordered a Grohmann Mini Russell (R340S) and have read a lot of good things about it. It's about 7" overall, with 3" High Carbon Steel blade. Rosewood handles. Just wondering if anyone here has experience with Grohmann knives (Canada), and what their firsthand reports are.

Here are a couple of the seller's pics:

I have used grohman fixed blade knives for years.I have 3 the Canadian survival knife may be my favorite, the boat knife is also the Canadian army knife and their classic fixed blade that has same blade size and design as your folder. They have choices In steel either carbon or stainless both are tough and hold a good edge. The blades are well designed they feel good in the hand.I am very happy with mine

I picked up an old carbon steel fixed-blade off eBay years ago. It clearly had been carried and used a lot, but was wonderfully functional and fine ergonomically. I believe when they first appeared they won a number of awards for the design.

I gave mine to my son when it became clear that due to health my hunting days were over.

That is a fine looking knife. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get it? I think I want one for myself...

After looking at several dealers' websites and seeing the average going price at about $80 or so, I had decided that I will keep that one in mind, but maybe look around a bit. Not that it was too much, because for a good, quality knife, that seemed a fair price. It's just that I don't really NEED one,, just looking for something kind of different, in real good quality, in that size (i.e. about 3" blade - fixed or folder, about 7" overall length, etc).
Then ... I see one, here in country (importing ANY knife into Australia requires jumping through some paperwork hoops) on ebay for $49! That's it, done deal. I think the guy still has one or two left. If you search for Grohmann Mini Russell on ebay, be sure to make it "worldwide". A google search will also turn up several dealers that have them, as well as the Grohmann company website.
When it arrives, and I have a chance to give a run around the block, I might post a firsthand review...
Cheers
