I just bought a S&W Demo revolver described as a S&W .44 magnum Two-Tone in an X frame. I have never seen a .44 mag in a X frame before. S&W item# 670307 and UPC 0221188139297. 7.5 in. barrel. I have scoured the web looking for a photo but strike out. I'm getting it from Zanders...sight un-seen.

Thanks for any help, UT

I heard rumor 7 or 8 years ago of lots of "ideas" Smith had about the x frame including one chambered in .223 and also an 8 shot .44 mag. would love to see pics of this .44 when you get it.

I'd be waiting with reamer in hand.... the first thing I would do would be ream that cylinder to 445 Supermag. 5 1/2" 8-shot 445... that would be cool.

Pictures, pictures, pictures......... Chanting now....... One of us, one of us, one of us

It would be pretty cool but, in the process you might be destroying a potentially rare collector S&W.

An interesting subject. I would love to see an X Frame done in 357 Maximum. To my way of thinking the X would be the perfect platform for it.

It was an excellent cartridge.

You sure you ain't gettin a 629 Magnum Hunter? While the compensated slab barrel with the integral scope mount looks like a X-Frame, it is still an N-Frame. It comes in a two-tone finish.

I can not recall what year at the shot show, but one of the engineers was talking about an 8 shot, scandium, 44 magnum X-frame

I just don't see a demand for a scandium X-Frame in .44 mag. A steel N-frame would have less bulk and probably weigh about the same. Maybe for a snub nosed bear defense gun similar to their ES series, but in a 7 1/2'' hunter model, I don't see the advantage of the X-Frame just for the 2 extra shots. JMTCs.

Could have something to do with the name he chose to use "Uncle Troll." Find it hard to believe that he would have exclusive knowledge that none on this site of S&W enthusiasts was aware of. Don

Sorry for leaving you all hanging...I forgot to have the responses forwarded to my email. Anyway....false alarm. I got the gun in from Zanders and they had described it wrong. It is a "N" frame. It was a "used" gun that Zanders bought from S&W. I called S&W about it and they confirmed the frame. They did tell me that there are 2 dates associated with it. 2008 and 2012.
