I am pretty sure I can get the book downloaded on my Mac.

But, then, can I use an MP3 to burn the book onto? I have just a regular old Mac. Nothing extra. I don't even know if one can buy blank MP3s.

If I use CDs, how does it work-a regular audio book could be 8-15 CDs, how do I make the CDs in sequence?

I am very illiterate in computers. I am not even sure what a "folder" is.

I do know that the Mac has different names than a PC for stuff, but, even if I had a PC, I still would have no clue.

MP3 is the name of a type of file. An MP3 player, like an iPod, stores these files in memory and plays them back for you. Kind of like a Sony Walkman, but with no cassettes or CDs. You can get a small one, for three or four books at a time, for $25 or so. Now that we've got that straight....

Yes, an audio book might take many CDs. However, if your CD player will read MP3 files, you can copy those files from your Mac to a CD and play them in your CD player. Most CD players made in the last three or four years will play MP3 files.

I haven't used Audible, but I plan to. I can download audio books from my local library to my computer, then transfer them to my MP3 player, which I use to listen to them. It's not the easiest system to use, so I can see how Audible might be a little confusing for a new user.

Audible.com uses a proprietary format, not MP3 and some MP3 players, such as Sony can't play them. Audible Manager I believe allows you to burn a CD but I don't have a MAC and know nothing about them. I do like Audible and think there service is great!

I have several mac's so hopefully I can help..I don't know anything about the Audible program but I can tell you that the ebook must be in a format that the player will read. If the ebook is an mp3 format you should be able to just drag the file into the mp3 player once the player is plugged into your mac. If it's not in mp3 format let me know, I might be able to direct you to a program to convert the ebook files to the correct format so they will work.

And I found this on the Audible site:

Audible Software for Mac

Mac users using iTunes do not need to download any additional software.
Audible files will download directly into iTunes.

Thanks all.

I finally got the nerve to take the plunge, downloaded to books and burned one to CD.

Took a bit of time to figure it out, but finally got it.
