Anyone here Patrick Swayzee fans?

I like his movies, but I don't think he was a great actor. His characters were always the same. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but you knew exactly what his role would be like before you watched the movie.

In fact, I fell asleep to Next of Kin last night.

North and South wasn't too bad either

Ah yesssssssss, id forgot about that mini series trilogy. BTW, Walmart is currently selling the trilogy from between $10-to-$12. I just nabbed a copy late last month.

One of my favorite types of movie is the good old GET EVEN story. Road House and Next of Kin are my to faves. Road house is the main favorite of Swayze's movies. Sam Elliot always adds an element of entertainment for me as well.

Talking about get even movies I think of two others that I favor: one is Mr. Majestic with Charles Bronson and An Innocent Man with Tom Seleck.

I don't think any of these are considered MAJOR movies but I love 'em a lot and watch 'em often.

Edit to add: Another plus for Road House was the presence and music of the Jeff Healy Band. Good Music never hurts a movie!

Seeing that last night as well, is what got me thinking of posting this.

Sadly, they consider Roadhouse a "B" movie--but I dont. Next of Kin is an "A" lister for sure. Ill watch these two when on anytime--but not if up against something like: Stagecoach, Fort Apache, Halls of Montezuma, Titanic (1953) but, ill watch them ove Star Wars and movies like them even though I love those movies too.

I havent seen Mr. Majestic in ages. Dont get me started on Charles Buchinski (aka) Charles Bronson. He was and will always be--a family favorite. :D

I sense ill be seeing Paul Kersey in the near future. :D.

By all accounts a good, decent man, who died very bravely. I didn't like some of the movies, but thought he was a better actor than he was given credit for.

On the other hand, I remember a bit on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" that was wonderfully warped, set to a song: "Let's Have A Patrick Swayze Christmas". Naturally it featured massive, butt-kicking violence, and I imagine Swayze loved it if he saw it. He never seemed to take himself too seriously, which was refreshing.

Red Dawn and Road House, all the way!
My SIL saw him one time down at that shopping center in Houston that has the ice rink.
They were shooting a promo for an Arabian Horse Show. The ice was covered with plywood and Swayzee rides out on an Arabian. As he circles the rink the horse gets a hoof between the sheets. Multiple handlers appear and get him and the horse off the ice without injury.

I think that place is or was called" The Galleria?? Ive been there only once-and to try to ice skate. I was on my behind and hanging onto the wall-more than I was on my feet.

I may be wrong but I think Ghost won two academy awards. It was recently made into a Broadway play. My wife and I saw it in San Antonio a couple months ago, and it was every bit as good as the movie.

Roadhouse & Red Dawn. I usually don't have much interest in dancers, but I totally respect and admire ballet. Female and Male. What they go through for their art is amazing.

RIP Patrick.

Road House.

Dirty Dancing for the ladies, nobody puts baby in the corner.

Kinda funny this thread happened today. I just re-watched Red Dawn the other day. There were two or three things that struck me.

"Baby", Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing with Swayzee released in 87' was also in Red Dawn, put out in 84', as one of the grand daughters the old rancher, played by the great Ben Johnson had hidden.

Also spotted Charlie Sheen as one of the youngsters.

Early in the movie, the commandante in the first landing in Colorado directed his men to go to all the sporting goods stores and get all the form "4473s", we all know and love, and then use them to track down all the firearms !

I also noticed what a fine horseman Swayzee was, in just the few minutes he was shown riding. He was a natural in the saddle, unlike a lot of the stars that ride like a loose jointed rag doll, arms akimbo and legs aflopping.

Seems he was hurt while riding one time and was out of movie work for a year or two ? Both arms broken ? "Never was a horse couldn't be rode, never a man couldn't be throwed".

Sorry we lost him.
