Iwas wondering if any here have used the Remington (Green and White box) .45 ammo, and what you thought of it? I nabbed a box today since I never had any before.

That's the Remington UMC line, no? It's a good plinking round. I agree with Fire75 that it's a touch dirty, but not terribly so.

Shot a lot in .38 Special, 9mm and .45 ACP; never had a bad batch, good accuracy, reasonably priced (for these days) and in my area easily found in both gun and sporting goods stores.

I've used it in the yellow 250 paks and it's a decent ammo for target shooting or plinking, however I did have a couple of near squibs in one box.

Tip here, anytime you have a round with very light recoil that sounds like a 22LR and doesn't eject the casing it's a good idea to NOT go all Tactical with the Tap, Rack, Bang drill and instead take a penlight and shine it down the barrel to insure you don't have a bullet lodged in the barrel.

Good news is that on both occasions the bullets made it out of the barrel but the last one was real close to not making it. Had the target 30 feet downrange and a close look down my lane revealed my bullet spinning on the floor about 10 feet past the target.

More good news is that IMO Remington makes very good cases for reloading, so on occasion I'll still pick up a box just to gain the brass.

I agree that the Remington-UMC promotional ammo is generally reliable. It also is quite dirty...so is WWB!

The Remington brass in general is softer than other brands but still good. If the brass is reloaded a substantial number of times, the headstamp gradually disappears.

Thanks gents. I think ill limit myself on that brandthough.I have federal--havent shot any yet--but seems to be an allaround good brand. Trouble is-is the stores here mainy get Winchester WB and ive seen a few here and there--of Tula and the Remington Green/White and the UMC--just not often.

The only kind of ammo I had feeding issues was WWB. Everything else runs fine so far, but I don't shoot Russian stuff....

I prefer Federal Champion, followed by Remington UMC, and last place WWB (by far the dirtiest, and more expensive than the other two.

Have also used PMC, Herters, and Blazer Brass (PMC being the best of those three).

I had a lot of feed issues with my Kimber Ultra using UMC JHP 230 gr. Kimber had me send it in, replaced a long list of parts, and now no JHP issues at all.

IMHO, it's just OK. Dirty and somewhat inconsistent, although nowhere near as bad as Remington .22, which I refuse to shoot. My favorite range ammo is Selliers & Bellot, followed by Fiocchi and Prvi Partisan (PPU).

When I first started shooting the 45 acp I had a WWII 1943 Ithaca, buddy that I got it from was a WWII vet. Gave me a cigar box full of assorted 45 ammo. Match loads, and ball. That was and still is a great shooting 45. I and a couple buddies had a friend that was really into 45's but he never reloaded and his spent cases were up for grabs. Many were the times when he was done we'd be checking the grass looking for those cases. Always had a couple gallon freezer bags and one memorable day came darn near filling one up. I've used some of the remington ball ammo and some of their hollow point ammo. The difference between the two was like night and day. The good stuff was fairly clean, the ball stuff not so much. Frank

I was shooting a box of 45 ACP lot number MC L45AP4, my pistol stopped. The pistol barely moved and when I ejected the round, the projectile was still firmly in place. The primer was deformed and when I dug it out, NO FLASH HOLE!!!!!! I guess that could happen to anybody!

I'd be remiss if I didn't swim upstream here to say that Rem .45 has ALWAYS been the most consistently accurate bargain .45 I've ever shot. Followed closely by American Eagle. The rem is usually hotter, too.

Just yesterday as I was cleaning out and tydying up a closet--got lucky and found 100 rounds of Federal ammo I didnt know I had. I dont know? guess ill keep an open mind on it for now. I may get another box then go to a range to test it out. The only brand of ammo I ever had trouble with--was about 25 years ago and had several .22 rounds that were CARP and were from a bucket of Winchesters I boughtfor $4 at Wally World.

I put around a a dozen 50 rd boxes through an old 5" Wilson, on my friends farm one day. The back stop lazed at 92 yards.

Hit everything I aimed at off of a sand bag on the porch that day, even pop cans. Dirty stuff though.

I was on cloud nine. Must have been a good batch is all I can figure.

I guess the good thing for me then is that WM here hasnt had any more boxes of Rem/ but has Tula, Winchester and something in a brown box whose name I cant think of at this time.
